We are INCREDIBLY grateful for Brightstar staff and our amazing team of nurses. We got in touch with Chris and MaryAnn before our 6 month old daughter came home from the hospital. Chris was professional and supportive starting with our very first phone call through today (and beyond!). Our smart, kind and loving nurses have become part of our family. Thanks to Ailaine, Lyrene, Kayla and Kendall, our daughter is not only surviving, but thriving, at home. They've gone above and beyond to keep her safe, healthy and out of the hospital, and to ensure she develops and reaches (surpasses!) her milestones. Brightstar has excellent nurses who have taken great care of my son. It’s tough to find skilled, professional nurses who also really care about and form a bond with their patients. Beware! the owners are very hard to work with. They do not treat people fairly and are not genuine caring people. The people who work for them are treated terribly, and you can expect less then happy employees because of their bad management. This review is long overdue, but I have found myself at a loss of words as to how to adequately express the depth of my(our) gratitude for BrightStar Care and the appropriate accolades they deserve. BSC as a company and especially their compassionate, conscientious, and extremely capable caregivers, (most notably Atelaite Namatasere & Shenald Kumamoto) have been literal and figurative lifesavers. And that is an understatement. From the moment we met the kind and trustworthy owner, Chris O’Keefe, who greeted the ambulance my dad was in (and our terrified hearts) with calm, reassuring, and organized guidance, I knew we were in the right hands. It was a Herculean effort to bring my dad home from the hospital needing full-time care, not to mention an overwhelming and extremely scary situation. BSC helped us every step of the way over an arduous two-year journey with his care needs constantly changing. It took a while to find the correct team for our needs with various nurses involved but BSC worked closely with us, especially Fedor in scheduling, who was very helpful. Ateliate Namatasere our full-time/live-in and phenomenal caregiver, truly became a part of our family as she cared for my dad (and all of us) as if we were hers. The level of deeply connected concern, compassion, and respect she showed my dad, especially on his toughest days, was nothing short of superhuman. She knew exactly what he needed no matter how complex the circumstances, whether it was navigating the constant doctor appointments or combing his hair to make him feel like a dignified human again. Her extensive experience combined with her gentle spirit made me feel like everything was going to be alright whenever I was in her presence. Our wonderful weekend live-in caregiver, Shenald Kumamoto, similarly became a crucial part of our family. Her sensitive, smart, and super fun style made weekends so special. One of the things my dad missed the most was going out to restaurants, so she presented meals as if it was the fanciest of dining experiences. These examples of the attention given to what he individually needed, not to mention providing outstanding medical care, were what allowed the rest of us (his family who were closely involved in every phase) to carry-on living to some degree without worrying about his mental, emotional or physical well-being. That was absolutely invaluable. Although my father passed away, we feel as much peace and gratitude possible with the whole process BECAUSE of BrightStar Care and the quality of life they gave him until the end.
