I encountered Bloom School two years ago while searching online for secular/non-religious music schools for my daughter and have been thankful to discover them every week since. We've tried many classes here, both in music and dance, and I have had the opportunity to watch my child grow both in varying interests and in maturity along the way. I enjoy how well organized and attentive the front desk staff are, as well as how flexible the school is with makeups and how fluidly they allow us to move around and try different classes if needed. Even the dance recital this year was low stress! I especially like the school's philosophy of not forcing an instrument on a child before (s)he is developmentally ready and interested. ("The younger they start, the younger they quit!") As a result, my child's interest in various music and dance subjects has blossomed of its own accord and she gets to keep that zeal which I worried we had lost when we had pushed violin lessons on her several years ago. Finding a teacher at the school who we don't like is a rarity; they are all very kind and have been exceptionally patient through all of the developmental milestones. They also do special events like Pajama Parties and Parents' Night Out a couple of times a year. It's rolling admission, so we can start and stop any time of the year and there is no age cap, so adults can take classes, too! (Which I do: guitar!) Thank you to all the Bloom School staff and instructors!! We are so grateful to be a part of this community. More...

Before becoming a parent I worked in preschool and I have seen many different kids music programs. Bloom blows them all out of the water. I don't know what took me so long to review one of our favorite schools. Both my kids have taken classes at Bloom. My eldest took Intro to Music Fundamentals and the follow-up, Music Fundamentals. Her teacher, Julie, was amazing. She introduced the class to different instruments, movement, rhythm and writing music. My eldest recently enjoyed Beatles Camp for the first time and hasn't stopped talking about it! Beatles Camp was a mixture of musical theater, dancing, singing and creating her own instruments (a drum, a kazoo and an ocarina). My youngest has enjoyed dancing it out with Miss Andrea. Miss Andrea is a patient, talented teacher that is really good at highlighting each of the students natural abilities. I highly recommend this school for anyone looking for a non-competitive environment for dance and/or music! More...

Continuing with my personal quest to write Yelp reviews instead of simply cruising...I am incredibly happy with Bloom School. We just returned from our oldest son's summer camp culminating performance. My five year old was so proud and excited to demonstrate what he and his friends learned over the past two weeks. The theme for the camp was The Beatles. They danced, drummed, sang and built instruments. My very sporty boy was happy to arrive every morning for a day of music. What I love most is the combination of warmth and directed instruction. The school creates a super positive atmosphere for all students. The wee ones learn the fundamentals both through playful exercises and more structured activities. We also take small group classes with my youngest who is 16 months old. We have moved through several teachers because of scheduling changes and loved each one's individual styles. Right now we are with Ms. Julie and adore her expertise and enthusiasm.I wanted my children to have a wonderful early music experience. Bloom is providing it for our family. More...

It's an awesome school on so many levels. My daughter has been enjoying the "Music Fundamentals: Pick an Instrument" and, of all her extra curricular classes, looks forward to this one the most. We're a family that listens to a lot of NPR in the car rather than music, and it's been great to see my child pick up rhythm and musical concepts so quickly given her somewhat limited exposure prior to the class. She's making a lot more music now (and requesting it in the car thank you very much.) Before I picked Bloom, I was trying to decide whether to begin private piano, guitar or violin lessons - and I love that Bloom recommends that she have an opportunity to enjoy her age and try out a number of different instruments until she chooses what feels right and most excites her. (I started playing the piano when I was 5, along with my two older brothers, and we all quit eventually, so I think that giving her time to adapt to kindergarten and enjoy making music in a more active class setting is kinda perfect.) I'm also impressed with everyone I've met who works at Bloom and appreciate that classes are affordable and that it's easy to make up a missed class. On a more selfish note, the school itself is gorgeous and spacious and the other parents have been very cool. There's a Trader Joes and fabulous eateries and shops neighboring and nearby street parking has always been easy to score. I just wish it was closer! I live in Studio City but it's worth the trek! Look forward to trying out a "Kinderdance" class, I hear those classes are fierce, too. More...

I am sure that I wrote a review of Bloom School of Music a couple of years ago, but I don't see it, so here goes again.  This place is awesome.  I have seen my daughter grow in her joy associated with music, and this joy is contagious in my home. It is clear that a lifelong love of music is the goal of Bloom, and it is achieved through the selection of amazing teachers, and a program that has more emphasis on the CHILD, than on some random marker like age.  Bloom does not push children, in spite of how we as parents often think that it is important that our children reach milestones on some schedule. The success of Bloom`s program is evident in the fact that children regularly race to the front door, way ahead of their accompanying parents.  This was NEVER the case when I was a kid.  Kudos Bloom!!  Thank you for what you have meant in my daughter's life.Oh, and before I forget to mention, Bloom`s dance classes are just as fun as the music classes.  My daughter is excited, at 4 years old, to be participating in her first DANCE RECITAL!!  I just can`t wait. Since I originally posted my first review several years ago Bloom has expanded into a new building and now offers dance. .. so I'd post an update. My eldest now takes private guitar lessons.  He has learned to read music fluently in the past two years and has a very good skill level for his age.  While that is all well and good, and what you would expect to gain from the cost of paying for private lessons , it is his enthusiasm for playing and learning that I need to credit the school with.Dave, his teacher, combines formal education while encouraging his students to choose songs that they want to learn as well as teaching him to compose his own songs.   This combination has made him an avid player.  Their instructors really have a good report with their students.  And it is fun to hear what my son is working on from week to week.   They have this great program called lesson track - which is a brief video or notes that serves as a review from the weeks' lesson.  This is great for me as a parent, since my son enjoys seeing and hearing his teacher  play.  It also helps us know exactly what they are working on without interfering during his lesson. Very cool and very personal. For our youngest, we like the their pre-school music class  and tips for incorporating music into our family life. More...

This is the place for children who are seriously interested in music and for parents who want to keep it that way. The teachers are trained musicians who just happen to know how to inspire children to grow and have fun as they master the instrument that brought them there to begin with. My older son plays the guitar, my younger guitar and drums. Both are interested in composing original music and this talent is cultivated, celebrated even. Eagle Rock is centrally located to so many surrounding areas, and the new studio elevates their diamond in the rough status to, dare I say, 5 stars. More...
