This is why you step away from the crowds to find small family resteraunts for a great meal and experience. The place has a definete jazz bar turned resteraunt vibe, which I loved. From the moment we sat down, I felt chill and ready to enjoy a good meal. Honestly my favorite place.I'm from Chicago and this reminded me of home.  Food has so much flavor.   Pecan Carmel chicken is amazing.  As is all the different sides.  Chicken fried steak is good and the chicken parmigiana.  They make their noodles homemade.Only thing that wasnt a 19 out of 10 was the calamari.  It was ok. Just very small portions.Your dinner entrees are huge.  I'm a big guy and usually bring home some for tomorrow.  Prices are very fair.  The last 2 times I went they had a piano player which was very nice.  Cant wait to go back again. Great food and great drinks. Everything was excellent in my opinion. The bread tasted good, the spinach dip was amazing, the sun dried tomato pesto I had was great, and my French martini was mixed well. They do offer some food items for those who do not like Italian food as well such as a PB & J And chicken tenders, but if you like Italian food you should try this place. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Truly good homemade food. First time here. I'm from Chicago and have lived in Tennessee about 6 mos. Finally a restaurant that makes food with flavor. I had the Carmel and pecan chicken. Huge portions Also has about 10 to 12 gluten free menu things. We also had the chicken parmigiana. This is probably one of the best meals I’ve had in my life, and I went to school for food & beverage management so I’m very hard to impress when it comes to food. Extensive wine list, large menu with tons of different options. You NEED to get the friend goat cheese with tomato jam, it will change your life. They also bring you warm, soft rolls with a delicious oil pesto for dipping. Lunch for 2 under $40 with 2 to-go boxes for later. Friendly service, great live pianist, yummy food. We had scallops, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits - all delicious, and the best cheesy grits I’ve ever tasted. Hidden gem, a little bit of New York in TN.  Wonderful lunch/dinner spot.  Not touristy, not loud, not a chain, just a good meal with good good people.  Happy hour from 3-6 was a pleasant added surprise! We were one of perhaps 3 or 4 groups dining at Bistro 109 on a cold, wet 12/28 evening.  But the place was attractive, and the piano player skillful.  We tried a tuna tostada appetizer, which was delicious.  And mains were also excellent.  The menu is interesting, and a welcome change from the chain restaurants in the area.  We'll definitely be back! By far the best restraunt around. I moved here a couple years ago and we always had good restraunts. But Everything here seems to be frozen, premade or just not freash. Not this place though. Best restraunt I've been to here. Beautiful atmosphere, very well decorative and historic atmosphere. Our server ( forget his name) was just awesome. Very friendly, had some cool conversations with him and he wanted to make sure our experience was awesome. We got the best seat in the house as well. They had a piano player that was awesome. My father and I ordered the same same thing that was recommended by our waiter. Shrimp and grits, and it was the best I've ever had. Also had a ceaser salad while my dad had the house salad. I can tell the dressings ( ceaser and blue cheese) were made freash in house and not bought at some cheap manufacturer. Honestly I would give more stars if I could.
