DJ Susan was phenomenal. Excellent service, extremely flexible and responded very quickly when I reached out to her. In no way were we disappointed. For our contract, she had us pay a flat rate and then charged the day of the wedding for additional hours. I thought the reception and dancing was going to last longer than it actually did, and when the time came she was ready to pack up and only charged us for those additional hours she worked. Absolutely delighted with "Best Tacoma DJ" experienced handling of music playlists and cues at our daughter's wedding. She was extremely helpful by not only having online work sheets and tips for the event, but also was quick to connect with (emails, texts and phone calls) during the decision making process.
She made certain the venue had all the necessary equipment, which kept the cost down, but more importantly, she had the correct versions of the songs we wanted played.
Pricing is extremely fair and you are given the option of paying for extra time the day of the event so you're not paying for time you won't be using.
She was prompt, competent and unobtrusive. Her friendly and calm demeanor made for a 'stress free' experience.

Susan was so amazing. there was a little hiccup with my venue not being compatible. Was not Susan's fault the venue stated it would be. But thankfully before the reception she was able to go get different equipment out of her car. Everything went off without a hitch after that point. The only thing i wish would have gone differently is the song that i was suppose to walk into she could not get to play because she had to use her iPod due to the venues equipment. However she didn't test it before hand when she was there 1 hour before my wedding started. She had tested the song before my wedding date she stated. The file just didn't not transfer properly. We also had my brother play his guitar during our cocktail hour and she let him use her equipment at no extra charge and brought a mic stand so the sound would project through her speakers. My grandfather sang our wedding dance and Susan made sure he had what he needed to play his guitar and sing for us. Within a week of our wedding we reached out to Susan and she brought her own speaker setup and was able to provide music/microphone use during our ceremony. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Frist, working with my clients on what is important to them and their guest for their dance music and what brings up their energy is important to find out. Since most events have different age groups, it's important to work to make sure some music gets played for all ages so everyone enjoys some of the music and gets a chance to get up and dance.
Second, I have a DJ worksheet to find out what music my clients want during all different phases of their event. This way we are both on the same page when it comes to what they want and doesn't want at their event.
Third, I've been a DJ for 14 years so I have folders of songs that are popular for different types of music over the years. These are songs that "get people up on the floor and dance" based on the types of music my clients and their guest are requesting.
Fourth, I take request from guest and I work at tailoring each client's music before their event so they get the music they want and don't get the music they don't want to be played.
Fifth, I subscribe to two DJ services so I can keep my music update so I can find most current songs for my clients. I can also find the "clean" version of most songs. Even though this coast me extra music over the year, it's worth it to me to make sure my clients are getting the music they want.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
A style is hard to describe other than flexible, relaxed, and fun to work with.
It's important to me that my clients get the experience they want for their event.
I'm not a club DJ, and I primarily do weddings, so if someone mainly wanted Rap / Hip-Hop without a mix of other styles. I'm not their DJ.
I can get Hip-Hop and Rap music, but weddings usually have guests that listening to just this style is not their cup of tea, and I feel it's not fair to them to make them listen to hours of music they don't enjoy when coming to someone's wedding.
I only have a rule about no beverages on the DJ table. Liquid and electronics do not mix and could end the party with one spill, and if I have a gig the next night, most likely that night also.
What do you love most about your job?

Weddings are my favorite. Everyone is so excited. Don’t get me wrong, all events are lovely to do, and I enjoy them all. I’ve done just about everything, including setting up a retired Naval Ship as a “Ghost Ship” for a Halloween fundraiser I did for several years. That was a lot of work but a lot of fun and pride for me being a veteran.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I like to sing, and back in the day when smoking happened in bars, I wouldn't say I liked to do karaoke there. I bought some professional equipment, and my friends would come over, and before I knew it, friends were asking me to do their birthday parties. Then, people I didn't know were asking me to do their parties.
That led me to do music for friends' weddings, and one thing led to another, and now I do mostly weddings and corporate events.
The excellent news is to keep my rates low as I am not dependent on making a living as a DJ.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
If needed, I can wear a mask if this makes my clients feel more comfortable.
Also, wiping down mics when used by the wedding party and changing mic covers is important.
Also, use a DJ request sheet and wipe down the pen that is used by guests when making requests or we can use text messages when making requests for songs for dancing.
