Q&As

Finding the strengths and talents in people and organizations - there is nothing like shining a light on uniqueness and helping someone embrace and celebrate it!

After years of working to make others' organizations thrive, I decided to put my skills to work on a broader scale: helping individuals to feel better about their lives AND business leaders to feel better about their organizations. It is a good blend - I find I use many of the same skill sets in both settings and the creativity involved in helping people and organizations figure things out keeps me energized and always amazed!

#1: I care about and respect my clients. I believe their challenges are real and hurt their well-being or their bottom line. I don’t believe that it is ever useful to say, “Well, compared to so and so, I have little to complain about.” I believe in insight, but even more in the promise of possible change.

#2: Experience!!
• 30+ years as a licensed mental health therapist.
• 25+ years as a behavioral health or social services division director.
• 15+ years as an executive leader in the mental or behavioral health field.
• 20 years as a psychology faculty at a major university in Southern California.
• 10 years private practice ownership: specialities: psychotherapy, community education, speakers' bureau.
• Multiple successful division or company re-vitalizations.
• Multiple won contracts and grants for services: state, national / private, public.
• Not-for-profit AND for-profit leadership experience.

#3: Breadth Through Specialized Training and Experience:

Clinical:
Specialized training in trauma/PTSD, learning and cognitive challenges, grief and loss, caregiver issues, industrially derived psychiatric injury (i.e. work stress), childhood psychopathology, personality disorders, family systems theory, addictions, and intensive supportive and expressive psychotherapy models.

Business:
Grant/contract administration, budgeting and financial oversight, performance management, staff and leadership development, policy development and implementation, coalition building and volunteer programs, programs design and implementation, strategic planning, change implementation, project management, re-organizations and start-ups, leadership coaching, management training, mindful organizational design, mission and values development.

Services

Using a resilient and client-centered, trauma-informed lens, services focus on supporting you to gain insights about how you came to be who you are and what you want to do about you and your circumstances in the present. Psychotherapy is tailored to your unique needs and will take the form and length of care best suited to help you to heal, grow, and meet your goals.

Tailored services for leaders to support their development as visionaries, communicators, and managers. We'll examine your leadership and communication styles to find what's working for you and your company - and what's not-so-much. Manager/Leader Development may include management training, organizational consultation and other activities as the mutually agreed upon scope of work requires.

No joke: managing people is a BIG job! Performance management is a two-way street and starts the moment your company says hello to prospective staff and continues until the last good-bye on their last day of employment. Management Training provides an overview of best practices, a model for staff development throughout the tenure of your staff, performance management tools, and a look at your company's policies juxtaposed practices.

Management Training can accommodate management teams of up to 20 people via onsite or virtual training options.
