We hired Archadeck to completely rebuild our deck, make some structural improvements to our screened-in porch, and rebuild a walkway path from the deck to the front yard. Overall they were great to work with, starting with the design process and through the entire construction phase. Their communication was good throughout the project, including letting us know about one unforeseen issue which popped up during demo that we ended up having them address. Our experience with Archadeck was nothing short of excellent. My wife and I hired the company to replace our deck. From the initial meeting to the completion of the project, we were very impressed with the company’s dedication to first-rate construction and to the sincere attention to their customers’ satisfaction at every stage of the project. This is a company that takes pride in what they do. Our first meeting with the designer Krisoula was eye-opening. Thinking to simply replicate the same rectangular deck that we had, my wife and I thought design meant talking only materials and perhaps slight expansion of dimensions. However, Krisoula began by asking us what we used our deck for and what furniture we would be using. Taking our answers, she returned with several options that addressed our deck space from a grilling area to an expanded lounging area. The option my wife and I picked was a unique design with asymmetric features that maximized our deck space while perfectly fitting our needs. Krisoula was amazing—as lovable as she is talented.Then, from demolition to completion, we met additional personnel that continued to impress us with their expertise, professionalism, and friendliness. At every stage, everyone paid constant attention to our satisfaction and made us feel very much a part of the process. We had daily email communications with Zac keeping us informed of what to expect each day. The resultant deck at the hands of highly skilled carpenters (Andrey and Artem) exceeded our expectations. By the time of our closing meeting with the production manager Mike, my wife and I felt as if we had not hired a company, but a family of friends. We love Archadeck; we love our new deck. After making a commitment in April to building an observatory next to my garage, Finding a contractor as we were approaching Summer was a big concern.
But Archadeck was willing to accept the challenge and after several discussions about design I signed the contract in August with a promise of completion before the snow falls.
The deck was the easy part. However the 12" diameter reinforced concrete column to support the telescope was a challenge. After several more design revisions we came up with a solution that worked very well.
Construction began in mid-November and proceeded quickly and efficiently. The column was built and poured in one day requiring hand carrying of 1 ton of wet concrete to the top of the deck. All the construction work was completed expertly by a very efficient father & son team. Upon completion the yard around the construction site was meticulously cleaned and put back in order.
The next day it snowed — 17 in!
It was the whole team that made this possible. Starting with Larry, the design engineer to Mike, the production manager and Andris and his son Karl, the carpenters, the process went very smoothly. But not without the support of Zac, the production coordinator who made sure all the required materials were on hand. And Chris, who really impressed me digging a 4 ft. deep hole in our rocky soil and in the end putting the yard completely back in order. I found all of the Archadeck team were very efficient and pleasant to work with.

I am a two-time customer of Jim Finlay's and Archadeck of Boston. One deck in 2003 and another in 2010. In both projects Jim and his team of professionals were patient, competent, and responsive. We chose Archadeck for two separate additions to our house: a large screened-in three season porch/deck extension and the transformation of a 1980's curved solarium on the side of our house into a proper room with roof, walls, and window. They are thorough professionals. An architect plans the project with us, and once the plans are done, an artisan is selected for the construction project. We've contacted Archadeck about re-building our deck after looking for a contractor for awhile. The complexity of our terrain made this job challenging and not many were ready to take on it. Archadeck did! They executed the whole project flawlessly - initial design, schedule and cost estimates reviews, start of the project, removal of the old deck, building of the new one and the final review and hand off. The carpenter working on the deck was amazing - very thorough, with grate attention to detail and pride in his work. We watch the deck built from the ground up - and we clearly saw how carefully he was building each layer - making sure every single detail was done with high quality and in the most reliable way. Throughout the work - we were getting frequent updates from the project manager about the work accomplished so far, next steps and an invitation to provide our feedback as we go. This work is not cheap but it is very well worth every dollar. In the end - we have a beautiful and solidly built new deck that we enjoy a lot. I would highly recommend Archadeck if you are consdidering a new deck. They are extremely experienced deck builders, and are very professional. They are very good problem solvers, and came up with unique solutions. Krisoula the designer, was fun to work with and did a great job. We also enjoyed working with Mike, the production manager, and Zach who communicated with us. We especially loved our carpenter Ron who did a beautiful job. He built our two tier composite deck with pressure treated supports practically by himself. He also installed a new full view patio door without additional help. I would highly recommend Archadeck if you are looking to build a high quality and attractive deck. We selected Archadeck because of their excellent reviews, and their use of innovative helical piles, which allows them to build even during the winter months. When meeting the staff in person, we could tell they were real problem solvers. Our designer Krisoula was great to work with, and she came up with a very nice solution to the problem of our air conditioner unit. She designed a lattice gate to mask the unit, while still allowing access for servicing. The end result was practical and very attractive. Her 3D rendering was so terrific that we could really get a feel for what the actual deck would look like. She also attended an evening conservation commission meeting with us, because we needed to get town approval before we could start construction, due to wetlands bordering our property. We started construction in February, and the crew, Zach and Matt, were on site to clear snow when necessary, and remove debris while the construction was going on. Our carpenter, Ron, was truly amazing, he did his homework, and always “measured twice and cut once”. Despite some challenging circumstances, like a septic pipe being in the way, and 4 inches of ice to jackhammer before he could lay some ground footings, he took great care, and pulled it all off. He did all the deck construction, and was so exact and did beautiful work, we were in awe. He was on site very early in the morning and worked very long days despite the inclement weather. We also appreciated that he made a couple of slight modifications to the deck when we asked. And Zach returned a couple of times at the end, when it turned out that the malfunctioning deck light transformer, needed to be swapped out. A friend recently commented that the deck looks like it always belonged there. We can’t wait for really nice spring weather so that we can finally enjoy our beautiful new deck. More...

was excellent. They communicated their schedule to us everyday. We knew what to expect on a day to day basis. They work long hours and were very responsive and agreeable if we wanted to change up the design. I am so glad this is the contractor we chose for our project.

The team at Archadeck did a really fantastic job replacing our stacked decks. From design and planning through construction, communication was consistent and everyone we interacted with (from the design and sales consultant through the carpenters on site) were consummate professionals. The construction team even came out to work on a couple of Saturdays during the project, just to keep everything on track (as we lost a couple days to bad weather). After speaking with several contractors, we hired Archadeck to add a custom vinyl pergola (with a side of privacy panels) to our existing deck. It was a great experience from start to finish. They produced 3D renderings to show us exactly how the structure would look, and then they followed through with every detail. We were delighted with the quality of work done by ARCHADECK, as well as by the daily emails we received telling us what was done on that day and what would be done on the following day. We also appreciated that way that they explained some of the structural issues with our old deck, and what they did to improve the deck's support structure. We are thrilled with the work Archadeck did on our home and are happy to endorse them. From the beginning of the design process with Krisoula we knew that we had full say in the project. Any changes were accommodated without difficulty, and they found way to help us cut some costs here and there. With some others contractors we were made to feel like they had an interest in us overspending, and they reacted to changes with great annoyance or reluctance; not with Archadeck. Once the builders arrived on site things continued to be great. The crew was respectful and always cleaned up well at night. They worked late and built it quickly. They would check in with us at the end of each day and discuss any problems or changes with us in full. Best of all, they left the decisions up to us -- "Let us know what you prefer" and "Take the night to think about it" were oft heard phrases from the guys. From the first meeting to discuss our plans to completion. The project moved along smoothly and with no financial surprises, which is important when working within a budget.
Larry Cohen, one of Archadecks designers reviewed deck photos I had gathered, then
asked how we would use our new deck and patio. Larry then put together a most beautiful design, and although the project was a bit higher than we wanted to spend, we got so much more for our money.
Jim Finlay, the owner came by regularly to oversee our project. He would review
our projects progress and keep us up-to-date with what to expect. He brings a
level of integrity to his business.
Jay, our primary construction worker was also a great guy, friendly, ontime and precise.
Some of our neighbors who had the occasion to watch him working would wander over and let us know how impressed they were with him and his work!
In summary, what impressed me the most was the friendly, honest and sincere work ethic at Archadeck. They stand behind what they build, with professional design, all the certifications plus that a good construction company should have and a more than fair warranty on the product.

Archadeck removed our old wooden deck and replaced and enlarged it with composite decking.
Jim Finlay runs the Burlington company.
Jay was the carpenter who did most of the labor. Both were great. In addition to the deck, we had a water drainage problem below the deck that they solved for me.
The price was fair. We are pleased with our deck. I would recommend this company without reservation.

The quality of the materials and workmanship on the deck is obvious, and was done neatly with a minimum of disruption.
