Really nice homely people that know how to whip up a delicious sandwich! They also have a good amount of space for friends to come in and sit about and enjoy a meal. This place is absolutely stellar. Literally everything my family has gotten from this place is great. I was introduced when my company got me a week’s worth of food because of an illness in the family. Every day we got something different, and it was all fantastic. Since the experience was so positive we kept going. The people who run it are super friendly, engage my wife on what she likes and what we’ve enjoyed the most, and are always super helpful.What pleases me the most is that they cook such a wide variety of food well. I’ve gotten meatloaf, Italian food, they even helped with sides on thanksgiving. Even if the dish wasn’t my cup of tea or something I wouldn’t typically order, it still tasted great. They have a fried pork dish with sautéed onions and some sort of mustard flavor to it. I have no idea what its called and the likelihood I’d order something like that at a restaurant is close to zero, but its my favorite dish from Apple’s! I’ve gotten food from them about a dozen times, and was happy every single time. If you haven’t gone here yet, its definitely worth your time! The JDHS PTSO hosted lunch for the staff and teachers at the high school today which was catered by Apples Deli & Catering. Kudos to Matt Applebaum on providing a delicious variety of sandwiches and hot food! The penne vodka was outstanding and probably one of the best I've ever tasted. The eggplant was a huge hit and sandwiches were fresh and flavorful. The food was overall superb which had the people coming back for more and asking where it was from. We have had several meals from Apple's. Not only is the food delicious, but the portions are ample. The pork chops were moist and tasty. The eggplant dinner was enough for 4 (we are 2, so we get another meal) and was as fresh as it was yummy! The Taylor ham, cheese and egg sandwich can be a dinner or lunch!!!

Stopped in yesterday for the 1st time. Ate half of my roast beef special and brought the other half home because not only was it delicious but it was a good sized sandwich! ! Took home one for my Wife and then took home a roast beef, cole slaw and russian dressing sandwich on rye for my Mother in Law who is very hard to please. Both of them thoroughly enjoyed their sandwiches! Since i don't live local i am hoping to go back on a Friday and try the meat loaf special! Great food and a friendly staff. More...

I've lived in Springfield for 17 years and I've never had deli fare quite like this. I've ordered twice now, and loved what I had (pulled pork the first time and the fish sandwich the second time. The fish has a unique coating: potato chips! ) both times. Matt is personable, courteous, funny, and an all around cool guy. I found my new regular place for sandwiches and other fare. Amazing!! I was a giant fan of the deli that first occupied this site-the Evergreen Deli.  Thankfully, the iconic sign remains.  In between the original deli several (at least two) attempts were made to carry the name, all awful, but now we have Apple's. Along comes Springfield resident, and long time industry pro (Amazing Hot Dogs-Verona/Bound Brook, Cioffi's Boardwalk among them) Matt Applebaum.  And what does he feature?  The Syd's hot dog!  The first several times I visited Apple's I had deli sandwiches; sloppy joes, tuna salad, Italian hero.  All were really good.  Today, my table had the Syd's dog x 2, onion rings, cheesesteak, Thanksgiving sandwich (turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce) and a Cuban sandwich.  All wowed!  I know for sure the pork in the Cuban is roasted in house, and I assume the turkey is as well.  Isn't it great when a place has a kitchen LARGER than the rest of the joint?  Their daily specials look very inviting.The downside is that there's only seating for 8 at 4 tables, but because they do a ton of takeout there has always been space available if you choose to dine in, so don't let that be a worry.  Oh, and would I be greedy to hope they serve soup?  If it's as good as everything else . . . ! I saw this place listed on the most recent NJ.com Top 25 Hot Dog places in the state and a coworker and I decided to give them a try.  There used to be a place here in Jersey called Syd's that was an institution...it was such an institution that it was sold and moved multiple times, but always Syd's was synonymous with great hot dogs.  While Syd's is no longer with us, the owner of Apple's (Matt Applebaum) apparently had a close connection because he recently opened this deli in Springfield and he only serves ONE kind of hot dog on his menu...a Syd's dog.  Using Best brand all beef natural casing 5/1LB dogs, this is an excellent place to stop for a couple of dogs.  The normal Syd's dog is simply mustard kraut and relish...you can get less, but that's it.  They don't mess around here with chili or cheese or cole slaw or onions or anything else...kraut, mustard and relish are your only choices.  And let me tell you...you will be ok with that.  Best brand hot dogs are probably my favorites.  We also split an order of fries (that were just ok as they were previously frozen) and onion rings that were quite delicious.  I recommend this place with a passion...I was a little disappointed in the fries, but I'm not Adam D and I can live with them...plus the dogs simply outstanding.If you'd like a little more info on the history of Syd's or the write up of Apple's and their #12 ranking on NJ.com see below...virtualnewarknj.com/memo…The Syd's dog. So far everything I've tried is delicious. Pork chop with onions & the Cuban sandwiches are on top of the list. There other things on the menu that I have heard from others that is really good like the fish sandwiches and meatloaf
