I recently returned to Animalia for a grooming for my highly anxious 11lb rescue dog. Previously, I was using a mobile dog service to minimize stress on him (he had a rough previous life). However, due to a terrible last experience with this mobile dog groomer, I needed to find an alternative groomer right away and rather not pay an exorbitant price for a mobile service if I can find an affordable alternative. Animalia happens to be the closest groomer to where I live which helps my dog who hates car rides and being cooped up in a cage longer than need be. Tiana was his groomer and she was so personable, friendly and did a great job with him. She also handled him exceptionally, stating he behaved wonderfully (which was a shock to my ears). I will strictly ask for her from now on, as it puts me at ease knowing she can handle a "difficult" dog. The one disappointment I have is their strict up to date rabies vaccine requirement for dogs. The other dog I have had a terrible reaction following a rabies shot, so for her welfare I am unable to get her vaccinated. As a result I have to find another groomer for her. More...

Very happy bringing my doggies here. The set up is so easy and convenient. The amenities are outstanding from the aprons and hair dryer they supply down to the blueberry face wash and ear swab.  The staff are helpful and friendly. I appreciate all of it for only $15. It is well worth the cost of saving my back trying to wash them in the tub, PLUS not having to clean up afterwards is awesome.  But only 4 stars because I think the prices of all their other items instore are pretty outrageous like the $9 birthday cookie I bought. The teeth cleaning quote I got was also very expensive. I don't think this is so out of the ordinary but I think us 4 legged lovers (or suckers) get gouged alot. More...

I am new to town and I scheduled a grooming appointment two months out. The day before my dogs appointment, I receive a text saying my groomer sprained her wrist and to reschedule. I rescheduled and took my dog in a today. Staff is completely unorganized and careless of their job. By the time I got home, I get a call saying my dog was not up to date on rabies. Why would they not let me know within the two months of waiting for an appointment?? I go in to pick up my dog immediately and they handed me the wrong dog. My dog eventually comes out with the wrong lease and collar that had another dogs name!!!! TURNS OUT...My dog is up to date on rabies and this is my biggest concern with this company! I just got out of my vet appointment and they let me know my dog cannot  be vaccinated my because he is not due for another year. This kind of staff should not be working with animals especially if they don't care to check out documentation. My dog could have been affected long term today or could have even ended up dead. We have been going to Animalia for 8 years with our first rescue dog. Recently we added our second dog who due to major medical procedures was fearful to have paws touched. The staff showed us how to help calm him and also gave great advice on how to safely walk both dogs at once. Today we brought in a senior rescue who is visiting us for the long weekend. Sam, the groomer, was very calm and caring as he smoothed her nails. We are very fortunate to have such a caring business near us. More...

My wife and I recently adopted our girl, Ava.  I picked her up and immediately brought her to Animalia for a bath and to get the stink off of her.  I found the staff to be attentive and very helpful.  They were very informative and even took care of her nails and anal glands.  I have been bringing Ava in for regular baths.  They were very busy over the weekend and let me know to call in before I bring Ava for a bath.  They called me back and gave me a 15 minute heads up on available wash basins.  That worked out perfect.<br><br>I arrived yesterday and spoke to the lady who was cleaning the basin before I arrived.  I think her name is Cindy.  She was very informative and was working hard to make sure the basin was clean to wash Ava.  I didn't realize how much time it takes to clean the basin area along with refilling the bottles.  They even saved the original shampoo I left there last time I washed Ava.  <br><br>It has been so much easier to bring Ava in and wash her at the store.  I really dislike washing her at home.  <br><br>I find their store has a solid selection of dog food and accessories for pets.  I like supporting the smaller establishments and look forward to going back. Took my big black lab for the self wash. Everyone who works here is amazing, kind, and you can really tell they're true animal lovers. We used to go self-washing our dog "Hayate" at least once a month last 8-9years.It was kind of our family event to wash Hayate there. The people at Animalia were so nice. I have never gotten a dog groomed before, but our dog Humphrey came from the shelter and he was so filthy! Animalia was recommended by a family friend with two sweet doggies who are always very clean and well groomed, so I felt like we could trust them. Humphrey was a bit nervous to be left but I could tell immediately that he would be taken care of very well. Tiana washed him. They even helped us pick out a nice comb for him, and a lovely woman at the register got emotional hearing Humphrey's story having come from a shelter where he could have been put down. This showed that they really care about animals here and will do their absolute best to make the animals feel comfortable and happy. We even called in the middle of his grooming to ask if they might be able to add on a teeth brushing. They accommodated right away, and I was actually very impressed when they offered it for free if I would go home later and write a Yelp review for them... I could have just not done it, but they were so phenomenal I had to. When we picked Humphrey up he looked like a brand new dog and he was so happy! Came here to get my mini Australian Shepherd groomed and was so disappointed in his hair cut!!! They completely cut off his feathering on his feet and butchered his butt curtains! We have tried the self-wash twice to bathe our 2 small dogs. The ladies are always nice and we like having all bath supplies here without having to clean up after the pups are fresh and clean. I went in here today to find out how much they charge for grooming. The store has cute things but the older lady that works here is so unbelievably rude. She couldn't even take a minute from her personal conversation to answer my questions about what was included with grooming. She seemed bothered that her coworker was interrupting her to ask and couldn't even look over at my dog to find out what kind of dog I was holding almost literally in front of her. I went in to have my pit bull mix's toes done for about the 6th time, they are awesome every single time, my dog is so scared of having her nails done they make it easy. I have been taking my Princess Puppy Daisy to Anamalia's for grooming for 6 yrs. Daisy is a Jack Russel Chihuahua mix and is very smart and knows where she is going as soon as I cross over Bolsa Chica and starts getting nervous but as soon as we walk into this adorable pet shop we are welcomed with open arms. We walk to the back where Daisy is warmly greeted by the best groomer in Huntington Beach..Shadae..she doesn't just take your baby and put her in a cage..even though she is busy she takes the the time to talk with you with you and love on Daisy and make her feel comfortable.  And when I pick her up she takes the time to let you know what she did to Daisy and she always has the cutest bows or bandana on and she is so happy and smells wonderful. My dad and I have been coming to Animalia for YEARS! Everyone who works here is super friendly and patient. Even the owner remembers us and our dogs (by name) when we walk in. They hold cute little events (like Easter baskets for the dogs and doggie dedications) but it never comes off as pretentious or pompous or anything like that. I took my cat here to get his claws trimmed. He's large &amp; in charge, &amp; I've failed to do it myself many times. I was happy after discovering that they cater to cats as well, unlike most pet places that only cater to dogs. I didn't even need to make an appointment since they weren't busy today. When I came in, I was greeted by the friendly ladies who work there &amp; the nice merchandise they have. The lady who clipped my cat's claws was extremely sweet &amp; careful with my cat the entire time. I cannot say enough good things about this place. My cat had an accident and couldn't properly groom himself enough to . .. take care of the issue... I tried to wash him, but, like most cats he was not having it. Cindy helped me find the right product and explained the best technique to get him clean again with the least amount of trauma possible, as well as helped me pick out a little toy for him so he'd have something special to play with when the ordeal was over.
