My knee is now better and I was able to resume my Zumba classes. I also have a good set of exercises to continue at home.

Note: They do have fitness classes as well as PT.

I have nothing but positive things to say about this place and the people who work there. I'm in my mid-60s and in good health, except some balance and weight issues. Like many of us my age I'm concerned about keeping fit as I age, and after hearing rave reviews about this program from friends, checked it out, liked what I saw, and joined 2-3 months ago.

+ there is a nice site with the schedule of classes. Easy to sign up, and helps stick to a routine.
+ each class has no more than 8 people in it
+ the instructor knows the ability of everyone in the class, and tailors each exercise for each person. So someone will have more weight, or something to make it more/less of a challenge as is appropriate
+ our instructor is John, who is great - knows his stuff, pushes when needed, explains what each routine is about clearly and patiently, and mixes things up to keep it interesting
+ the staff, from the front desk, the therapists and the owners, are all very nice, and friendly. It's a relaxing environment.

I have gone to various gyms and health places over the years, and this is the best I've been to. I'd been going to another local health club and realized I had no direction or guidance on what I should be doing. I did some weights, some treadmill, and left. Not really very helpful. Here we work on balance, core, and strength, and I feel it is really tailored to what I need.

I highly recommend Accelerated Strength and Balance.

This is such a welcoming and effective place. I have been participating in a pilot program of fitness routines and nutrition advice that has been just wonderful. Paul and Julie are such lovely people and Paul is a great and knowledgeable coach. The thing I really appreciate is the personal attention, even in a group, and the fact that if you have certain issues with your body or injuries they are very effective at helping you to still work out and do so safely. Knowing how to do that is key to keeping fit. I highly recommend the classes and training they provide in such a warm and comfortable environment. Give it a try , you wont be disappointed. They offer Physical Therapy services too and I have used that as well with excellent results. More...

I was never a person who enjoyed exercise of any kind. phys Ed was my least favorite subject in school. It was my endocrinologist who suggested a few years ago that exercise with weights as well as core exercise would help maintain bone density as I am aging. I took her advise, not wanting to develop the osteoporosis that my mother suffered with. I have been exercising at Accelerated Strength and Balance ever since and sm loving it. The class set up keeps me coming. If I joined a regular gym, I think I wouldn’t feel as compelled to “show up”. I’ve also needed PT a couple times over the past 3 years and enjoy the connection between my classes and what Alan recommends. Living in North Grafton now, the drive is worth it! More...

As soon as I was ready for Outpatient PT while recovering from surgery for a broken hip, I contacted Accelerated Strength and Balance, remembering my very positive experience there in 2016 when they helped me with a back problem. I knew from that experience that their therapists were incredibly skilled and very smart. Working with a PT one-on-one at Accelerated Strength and Balance, you receive exactly what you need to recover from your particular injury, while also being monitored for strength, flexibility, and balance, so that ultimately they can send you on your way with greater flexibility and strength and balance than you came in with. Each PT that worked with me was personable and attentive - and more than willing to take the time to address my questions and fears. I also recently hurt my leg and was hesitant to go to my doctor or get and x-ray. I decided to go to Accelerated instead and Alan was able to diagnose and fix the problem. I want to thank coaches Paul Reilly and Tom Reilly, nutritionist Catherine Kling Nourse and fellow Accelerators for inspiring me and encouraging me to start and stay (underlined) on this journey. Health is #1. If you don't have that, you don't have anything.I never doubt why we do things like the Filthy Fifty, but sometimes I wonder after a workout, "is this really helping me with my functional strength and balance?" Answer is...YES!!Two examples, my daughter weighs about 68lbs. I can now comfortably lift her tired, sleepy, deadweight body from the car and being her into the house and up 2 flights of stairs to her bed. Without improved strength and balance I could not do this. Second example, I played golf the other day. Sadly only my 2nd round this year. But, my long game and midirons were solid and strong! I hit the cover off of the ball, had my balance and muscle movements in sync and felt great. I believe my work at ASB is directly correlated to my results on the course. Now if ASB could only help me with short game!Seriously though, I strongly recommend ASB for strength training and coaching. I also recommend them for physical therapy - both rehab and pre-hab. This team is well trained and knows what they are doing. They are thorough in their approach and they show consistent dedication to their clients. More...

Before my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's, we had been to a number of physical therapists who tried to help strengthen his muscles and improve his balance - but he seemed to need more than that. My husband and I struggled through several long years before he died.Later, while I was in physical therapy at Accelerated Strength and Balance in Westboro, MA, I learned about a program called "BIG" specifically for Parkinson's patients. It never occurred to me that physical therapy could, and should be, part of Allan's treatment plan and could have significantly improved my husband's quality of living. Several months later, when I visited my mother in Missouri, I noticed that she had trouble getting out of her chair, walking, getting in and out of the car and had lost confidence in being able to do a number of everyday tasks. Concerned about the potential of her falling, we made numerous visits to the doctors and underwent various tests, until she was also diagnosed with Parkinson's. When the doctor prescribed her medication, I was quick to ask for a referral for physical therapy - specifically, a program called "BIG" which is the program that Accelerated Strength and Balance told me about AND was available at their site for Parkinson's patients. I found therapists in Missouri who were trained to provide the program for my mother, and after 4-5 weeks of this therapy, she was able to get up from her chair with little or no assistance, walk confidently and able to go about her day with little or no assistance. Her quality of life is so much better - thanks to the information and help from the folks at Accelerated Strength and Balance 1231 miles away! I am so very grateful for your assistance! More...

My experience with Active Rx has been extremely positive. I needed physical therapy after shoulder surgery in December 2014. I decided to try Active Rx based on a friend's recommendation and what I read about their philosophy on active aging. The care I received was excellent. The professionalism, the caring, the encouragement and treatment I received from Rebecca and Jackie helped me to regain pain free, full range of motion of my shoulder. After my treatment ended, I joined their strength therapy program because I wanted to improve my balance and strength. I have never liked exercise - I tried a couple of gyms in the past but I hated it. The approach at Active Rx is a small class under the direction of a strength coach. The group support is so encouraging and John, our coach really cares. Everything from warm-up exercises to the use of machines is supervised, with safety as the prime concern. Over the years, I've been to gyms, hot yoga, regular yoga, step classes, aerobics classes...and each has had its place at different points in time. Now what works for me is Active Rx. I started a couple of years ago, not sure what I was getting into. I'm pretty active and fit, but aware that muscles are less flexible, joints are less fluid, and my balance a bit more precarious than it once was.I knew that the kind of gyms I'd attended before were no longer right for me. Then in stepped Active Rx with small strengtherapy classes that use stretching, balancing exercises, and a variety of weight machines to address each of these concerns. The trainers are thoughtful, careful, and attentive, making sure that alignment is right and that we're doing the exercises correctly. A good thing, as this is not a time in life to mess around with less than excellent instruction! And, amazingly, it's fun. Everyone at the Center is warm and friendly. And responsive. When a number of us wanted more, they came up with some new routines to up the ante. At the same time, when a shoulder hurts or a back gets pulled, they know how to modify the routines until things feel better. Like I said, thoughtful, attentive, careful...and fun! Try it out.
