I would strongly recommend A2Z. I had a Basement Finishing project which I awarded to A2Z Builders in 2021 after putting it out to bid.  1 common room, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 mechanical room and stairs. A2Z performed a site visit and followed up with a competitive proposal with a lump sum price. Proposal was refined (for clarity) and agreed upon. Provided good references which I actually checked. Single contractor/ interface managing all the permits, procurement, construction across all disciplines/ areas. Importantly, they were not stingy on the materials and did not try to descope the project where it was not clear. They provided design options on the materials and various items to be purchased for confirmation. Payment schedule as work is completed (defined by successful inspection along the way) so risk is fair. They accommodated tenants who were living at the property during the time of construction. Accessed the basement via egress. Portable toilet and garbage organized. Overall good quality. Very professional and helpful. Easy to communicate with and responsive. Few issues along the way as you would expect but is always addressed which is important. Nothing is smooth in construction so it is about how the contractor responds to issues. The project was not considered completed until I was happy with everything and signed off on it. Matt was the Project Manager. He was outstanding. Dan as the owner is also very good to deal with. Full renovation done! Yay, A2Z Construction just completed our full home reno. We are super stoked to be in our new house. During this crazy time, we thought to just go into the renovating process because it could not get crazier and we needed a refresh since the entire family clan was in the house 24/7. That part was not super fun as a mom ;). They renovated everything and made it fully accustomed to our tastes. My favorite part of the house is my new office. They built me custom shelves which are EXTREMELY helpful because I have so many law files. The kids favorite, you probably guessed it, is the basement playroom.

My husband and I were sort of worried to do the renovation because of the virus, but we just really wanted it done and everything turned out ok in the end. We are extremely happy with our home. Everything looks astounding and everyone is really happy. We are very grateful that you guys were able to work under the current predicament. More...

We hired this company to redo our basement. The staff completely gutted our old, I mean really really old, walls downstairs and redid the entire structure. Previously the basement had not flowed at all. Now, after reno, it flows and is an open light space, which is exactly what we were going for. They put in the plugin lights in the ceiling so now the basement is greatly lighted. They created a guest room and bathroom to have for guests, kids' sleepovers, and of-course the in-laws. Wow. Wow wow wow. Today, my husband and I walked into our full redone home. We love every single thing. They got everything right. The light laminate hardwood, the light gray color on all the walls, the kitchen, everything. Walking in we first noticed how much bigger the space looked. They added recessed lighting into the ceiling, put in new clean windows, and the flooring really made a difference. Then we walked into the dinning room where there was a really gorgeous navy and gold feature wall. Walking into the kitchen both my husband and I were shocked. It looked completely different in all the right ways. The countertops and cabinets were the first things that caught our eyes. Going upstairs, they also replaced our stair railing and added the hardwood on the stairs as well. Seeing the master was great and I could not believe that it was our bedroom. The bathroom was even better. There are so many things in the house the we both absolutely love. The staff did an amazing job and we are ecstatic with the renovation. Best pricing ever. This company has great pricing charging double the cost of materials. The quote they say is the price you pay, oops I just rymed. They gave me a quote on how much my bathroom renovations(and more) was going to cost and I ended up paying the exact price. This is convenient and especially nice because then you don't have to worry about if you have enough money to cover the costs and it ending up more expensive. Another thing that is nice about their pricing is that you do not have to put any money down. You just pay after each part of the renovation is done. Ok that's my rant about their pricing but now I will say a couple things about my particular renovation. First and foremost, after all the walls were dry from paint they installed a 70" LED flat screen TV! I mention this first because I am currently using it to watch Family Guy lol. Moving on... They also renovated my master bath and guest bath. They look fire. The last thing they did was replace almost all my windows. Everything turned out flawless and they did great work. Everything is ready to go, apart from locking in the right contractor.A2Z Builders came highly recommended and made a very short list of contractors. So, I contacted one of the project managers and set up an appointment. No show. So, I followed up to set up another appointment. Another no show. Three times I set up appointments to go over plans to see if we would be a good fit. Three times, no one arrived without explanation. To make it worse, each time I contacted them to set up a new appointment, there was no record of any of the information I had already provided.So, my assessment is this - if a project manager is incapable of communicating well, setting appointments, and keeping promises, is this someone you want managing your remodel? And, if a $150k home remodel isn't enough motivation to do these things, what amount is? I'm let down by the experience and feel stupid for trying so hard to engage with this group. More...

Johnny Halis worked with us as the manager for our half a basement remodel project. He communicated with us almost every day for the entire four months it has taken to complete the project. Johnny and his workers got everything legal we wanted done accomplished. The difficulty of our project meant that it took extra long to complete. Despite this, the crew was nearly always timely, and no matter how many times or how much work needed to be redone, or undone because of the inspectors or communication issues, or any other reason. There was never an extra charge in our case. Once the full scope of the project in our minds was communicated to Johnny and his workers, the contract did not change in size or length. In the end the work was done beautifully, on time, and on budget. I wish we had trusted Johnny when he said â I will take care of everythingâ the first time he said it. It would have saved everyone a lot of time and anxiety. I hope they will come back soon and do my garage project. After the basement project, that should be easy. More...

The "big-box" Contractor didn't make his appointment. Second Contractor did a virtual tour of project area & submitted quote that gave us more questions then answers. A2Z showed up precisely on time, detailed their process, gave us vendors to select tiles & shower appliances we wanted, & provided a reasonable schedule for work to completion. Matt scored a perfect 10 for our tub conversion. More...

Project Manager Johnny Halis did a great managing this project. Re-do of 2 bathrooms (everything except installing new showers and toilets). Job included all necessary demo, painting, installations of new floors (1 plank, 1 tile), new vanities, mirrors, light fixtures, towel racks. The contractors were a lovely family who were very professional, hardworking and kind. Always punctual, and stayed as late as it took to get the job done. Completed the job in 4 days! The cost was a bit high, but I have no regrets, and received excellent quality work and customer service. More...

A2Z worked to create my vision. They gutted the bathroom and completely renovated everything, enlarging the shower, replacing the bathtub with a Japanese soaking tub, installing new cabinets, and making a cement countertop with sink basins (from a custom mold that they built). They helped me understand the timeline right from our first meeting letting me know what I needed to order and when and what they would be responsible for. I chose a fancy Moroccan caustic role for the floors and they did an expert job of mimicking the complex pattern I found online that used 4 different variations on a tile.
They also cut the tile so well that the transitions and corners are flawless and without gaps. They installed all new glass panels for the shower and found me a very inexpensive shower tile to offset the other tile cost. The new shower has a perfect gradient for draining as well and their recommendations on lighting, paint, and grout colors were excellent. I really appreciate that they finished the project very fast and sometimes came on weekends (when there was a delay on the caustic tile shipment). They were always easy to reach at any time and patient with my questions. I will hire them again for future remodels and I highly recommend the company. More...
