My dog Luna attended doggy daycare since she was 8 weeks old and has once stayed 7 days for boarding while we were on vacation. Luna loves her and she's always had a great time! Our puppy got to have a welcoming place to run around when we were still apartment dwellers. They have since moved to Federal Way and we have since moved to our new house in North Bend, but we still sought them out when we had to go to a funeral service over the summer and had to be gone the whole day. They are a great family and will definitely take care of your doggo! We're excited for when Luna gets to stay with her again--probably with Luna's new fur-brother in tow... :) Thanks for everything, Janelle! More...

Nascent Phoenix is our first choice when it comes to caring for our Great Dane.  Janelle (the owner) is honest, trustworthy, and dependable. I never have to worry because she's got everything under control.  Janelle has a rare and amazing connection with animals.  This allows her to provide care specifically tailored to our pets needs.  Our reactive, territorial, and generally grouchy pup absolutely adores her. I highly recommend Nascent Phoenix!! More...

I have a human aggressive/reactive border collie puppy, and Janelle has gone above and beyond the call of duty in making sure that Schatzi and I are training properly and living our best lives. We still have a long way to go before we get to where I want him to be, but the fact that Schatzi can make (and, with time, love) new humans, is something that I never even thought possible. Thanks, Janelle! More...

Absolutely the best! Please see website for my long winded review. I have been thrilled with the training LuLu Rose received. Although we had been through training in the past, Janelle was able to help train us, as humans also. I highly recommend and can't imagine trusting anyone else with our beautiful girl. More...

how would we have survived these last 6 months without Janelle and her family? Don't even want to think about it. So thankful for them and the care and training they have provided to us and our 7 month old Stella

Janelle and her family are great with dogs and take such good care of my dog that she actually cries when I pick her up to go home! My dog is a little sensitive and hyper at the same time, and she always comes back well exercised and happy from Janelle's home. Their sweet senior dog, Mishy, has a calming influence on my dog. I highly recommend them! More...

I just can’t say enough about Janelle. She has been wonderful! We choose to do board and train. Honestly, I didn’t know if I could let our special girl go however, with other dogs in the house, we felt it was best for her to learn without distractions. I was worried that she would not understand why we were doing this. From the moment we met Janelle we felt completely at ease. She truly loves the dogs and they immediately love her. During our first meeting she was very informative and actually helped us with some behavior issues we were having with our other dog. Janelle has been very flexible with our busy schedule and when she has come for follow up visits our LuLu Rose can’t wait to work with her!Over the years of owning dogs we have gone to training classes and have brought in private trainers multiple times. Honestly in my heart some of the style of training just seemed not to make sense. What do I know is, I am not the trainer so who am I to say. During my first phone conversation with Janelle, I voiced some of the concerns I felt were not corrected with traditional training. She was very informative in answering why that was correct making me feel even more confident in her skills. One of the other very important aspects that she worked with us on, is our communication. With traditional training you do learn simple things like, don’t let your dog walk in front of you and don’t feed them before your family etc. I was very surprised to learn several other things which we had not been educated on. This was sending very mixed signals and causing our previous training to be confusing for everyone. Dogs are so much quicker to learn than we are. I am still practicing what I have learned and when I follow that, it works so much better and is far less confusing for our LuLu Rose.Every dog is different! The more intelligent the more they pick up on what we humans don’t know. When behavior issues begin and you don’t get help right away, it only makes you and your friend feel more out of control. We hope that our dogs live long and healthy lives with us. Investing in the proper training was important to us to insure we could enjoy the experience to the fullest.I would absolutely recommend Nascent Phoenix and Janelle to anyone who wants to train both yourself and dog in a very loving and compassionate way. Our Lola girl absolutely loves her daycare and furry friend experience. As a regular for the past 2 years, my husband and I feel so confident when we leave her for the day or on our vacations away. We cannot thank Janelle and Andy enough for all they do for our little girl! More...

Q&As

My favorite part of my job is showing owners and K-9's they can understand each other!

Services

We will develop a strategy and training plan based on what you would like to accomplish and how things are going. This will ensure everyone is fully supported, as training is all about consistency. During the 1:1 sessions questions on how to conduct basic behavior modification situations are welcome, however, the 1:1 sessions are not geared for intense fear/nervousness and aggression towards dog and/or human.

The first session is $200, runs 90 minutes, and includes an evaluation, assessment, and initial training.

We offer Board & Train packages!

This program focuses on the specific, often post- traumatic, rehabilitation-needed type of issues which require specific measures to lend your dog a new way of being. This will help to form a new pattern of thinking while recognizing & respecting the dog’s highest internal drives. We will work on calming anxieties to ensure everyone’s safety. You might call it In-Home Immersion Wellness Training. From there, the dogs’ mind becomes more ready for new learning. We offer 3 weeks or 5.

All Board and Train programs include up to four hours of private one-on-one training. The four hours includes two, one-hour training sessions at the completion of the program. You also receive up to two one-hour follow-up sessions to be scheduled at the owner’s and trainer’s discretion. All training sessions take place at our location.

Rates are normally 3 weeks/$3,500 or 5 weeks/$5,000.

We will find how to best motivate your individual dog (treats, a special toy, etc.) so that he/she will be ready and wanting to learn, both how to go toward something you want and do those new things and to go away from unwanted behaviors, to stop doing those things.

The first training session will run for 90 minutes, preferably in your home so we can observe your dog and verify the listed behavioral issues are the top priorities. The remaining 4 sessions will each last one hour.

Basics: Respond to name, Come, Sit, Stay, Down, Greeting other animals, Greeting new people
Intermediate: Place, Leave it, Impulse Control with Distant Distractions Indoors, Impulse Control with Close Distractions Indoors, Impulse Control with Varied Distractions Outdoors

Rates are normally $200/hour. Book 5 sessions together for $300 off.
