We hired Eisner Design to renovate 2 floors of our house. The great challenge of the project was to transform a utilitarian basement into a truly habitable floor linked to the 1st floor above. Joe Eisner and his team came up with a creative and innovative way to add natural light to the basement by using the light from the upstairs family room. They created a 2 1/2 story room by cutting away part of the upstairs floor and connecting it to the basement with a new dramatic staircase. That coupled with a new glass wall and sliding glass doors in basement brought so much more light into the basement. A dark storage basement became a cheery fun space including extra bedroom, bathroom, play room, gym and home office. Eisner design was creative and professional every step of the way. I hired Eisner Design for the design and oversight of a 10,000 square foot, ground-up condominium development in Manhattan. The design was well-thought out and the spaces flowed extremely well, bringing in maximum light from all exposures. The materials and finishes were well-integrated and made a strong impression on all of the condo buyers. The team was very responsive throughout the 2-year project. Their turnaround time was excellent. Their deep knowledge of NYC building code was also extremely valuable.

We hired Eisner Design to renovate our Victorian townhouse in Manhattan over a decade ago. Eisner saw immediately that the challenge was to open up the space, bring in more light and add an airy quality, often lacking in these historic row houses. Eisner began by removing walls to give us an open floor plan with living space, dining area and kitchen running seamlessly together. To access the garden, Eisner replaced two small windows and a door with a nearly ceiling to floor windows and large central glass door, effectively bringing the outside in. This was an ingenious solution that changed the entire first floor. Another detail Eisner came up with was to turn the staircase to funnel into the middle of the floor, rather than the entrance, enabling the construction of a coat closet and the creation of an entrance foyer.

I recommend Eisner Design for any projects, whether for a second rural or beach home or an urban apartment. He has a sensitive and innovative approach to design and his expertise in Green design is also a huge plus. More...

Joe and his team transformed our sun room and backyard into a suburban oasis.They were able to brilliantly integrate some challenging elements such as our clover shaped pool into the landscape plan and created opportunities for the functionality of an indoor/outdoor bathroom and trellis-covered walkway without sacrificing the beauty of the form.

They far exceeded every expectation we had about the creativity and quality of the work. The work was done well, and on time. We appreciated the constant communication, the listening to additional ideas as the project moved along and the flexibility in working with us.
