Just finished the 6 week puppy course at York Dog Park with Smart Dogs training. Billie has made huge progress, thanks to Will Smart the dog trainer. He really communicates well with both owners and dogs, in a confident and knowledgeable way. The dog park is a really good, it’s safe and clean for dogs to train and play, the facilities are great. Having been to a number of other dog parks I have to say this is our favourite. Starting with the time sensitive gate lock that ensures that nobody else can access the field during your time ( so nobody can sneak in early) and also ensures you leave on time otherwise you’re locked in, gives you extra piece of mind especially if you have a reactive dog. Another bonus ( for me) is there is no toy box so you don’t need to spend the first 10mins of your time picking up all the toys others have left out because they can’t be bothered to tidy up when they leave! The field is brilliantly set out with enough equipment to entertain those who want it but with plenty of space for those who don’t. There is a sensory corner which is left uncut perfect for dogs of all ages for getting the sniffers excited or for those training to seek & find. Finally there’s the doggy paw spa ( pretty sure it’s meant for drinking) and for those who don’t want to drink where paws have been there’s a tap half way up the field. Amazing, clean, secure & entertaining for all! We took an 18 month old lab, a 2 year old spaniel x American bulldog and a 10 year old lab and they all loved it equally. The two younger ones loved having a go at everything and the older boy enjoyed sniffing around in the longer grass section. The paddling pool was a brilliant bonus which all the dogs loved. Had a great time at the York Dog Park today, our first visit and we will definitely be returning! Our dog loved the agility equipment and we really appreciated the bench and tent as it rained a bit whilst we were there. It also felt very secure.
