Not sure where to even begin with this review! I'd booked 16 Seater Travel to transport guests to/from my wedding reception. 1 minibus was to pick guests up from the reception venue at 2pm and drop them off at the Bandstand at 2:45pm. Then 2 minibuses were to pick up the guests from the Bandstand at 3:45pm and return them to the reception venue. All started fine, the minibus for the initial journey arrived on time and was en route to the Bandstand (with guests on board) by 2:10pm (which left more than enough time to get there for 2:45). For the return journey, the first of two minibuses arrived on time. However, there was no sign of the second minibus. My guests tried contacting 16 Seater Travel numerous times to locate the second minibus. Over 35 minutes of waiting and no sign of it. When my brother spoke to the office, he received a response of 'Well it's not me, is it? Call back in 20 minutes' followed by laughter down the phone. The driver on the other minibus tried locating the second minibus but was unable to get an ETA for it. At which point it was suggested that the remaining guests get taxis and 16 Seater Travel would reimburse us for the cost. Problem solved (aside from the rude response from the office). Fast forward a week or so, I contact David at 16 Seater Travel to see how we go about getting reimbursed for the taxis (and some sort of compensation - what's the point of using a 'professional' company if you end up having to stress and come up with solutions yourself?). The response I received was mind boggling. Firstly, David said that the first minibus was 45 minutes late departing the reception venue, which put the driver back on subsequent jobs (which included the return journey). So according to him the minibus left the reception venue at 2:45pm. The ceremony was due to start at 3pm. The journey normally takes 20-25 minutes. And yet, my guests were all present and correct at the Bandstand before 3pm. Draw your own conclusions from that. Maybe David's minibuses have developed the ability to time travel. David said that my guests had taken it upon themselves to get cabs and that he wouldn't be reimbursing me for the cost of the 2 taxis, even though the driver of the other minibus said that 16 Seater Travel would cover the cost. Secondly, as to my request for compensation, David said that he would be willing to pay me £50. However, he said that on Saturdays (which was the day of the wedding), he charges £50 per hour (or part thereof) for waiting. At no point prior to the day was there any mention of this and arguably, there was no waiting time - 10 minutes to get everyone on a minibus does not seem unreasonable. He suggested that he should come to my house so that we can give each other £50 - an attempt at humour or a thinly veiled threat. Avoid this company unless you like poor service, poor customer service, being accused of lying and thinly veiled threats! More...
