Q&As

Person-centred therapy is important because it helps clients resolve conflicts, reorganize their values and approaches to life, and teaches you to interpret their thoughts and feelings. This is meant to help clients change behavior that they believe is interfering with your mental health

What is the main goal of a person-centered therapy?
The core purpose of person-centred therapy is to facilitate our ability to self-actualise - the belief that all of us will grow and fulfil our potential. This approach facilitates the personal growth and relationships of a client by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity

The person-centered therapist learns to recognize and trust human potential, providing clients with empathy and unconditional positive regard to help facilitate change. The therapist avoids directing the course of therapy by following the client's lead whenever possible.

Getting started with person-centred counselling

Your first appointment will be an opportunity to discuss your hopes in therapy and we can advise you on whether person-centred counselling is the best therapy for your specific needs. We only offer online counselling or by telephone. To book your first meeting with me, please telephone on 07485736456 or you may book your first appointment via email yvonnehenry@counselling@btinternet.com.

If this is your first experience of therapy, you may find that setting out to begin therapy can feel confusing. There are many types of therapy in London and many kinds of therapists. I have put together a list of frequently-asked questions about therapy together with our answers that may be helpful.

Many practitioners have moved to remote methods of practice, which may have presented benefits to both the client and the therapist. It's likely clients will ask therapists to provide a blended or hybrid approach to offering therapy, offering both remote and face to face methods.

Services

I believe that by providing clients a non judgemental, accepting and empathic environment, their needs, attitudes, decisions and potential for growth becomes clearer and more fully formed.

My role is to support you through any challenges you may be having by offering you a space and meet you in a genuine, honest way.

By forming a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can navigate your thoughts, feelings and experiences (past and present) to better understand how they have worked together to form your understanding of who you are and how you view your place in the world.

I am dedicated to a working relationship that moves at your pace and the direction you wish it to move at. I am an Accredited member of the BACP and therefore adhere to their code and guidance of good and ethical practice. I am based in London, England.
