Householder Alterations
Working on existing houses, re-modelling, extending and improving them takes up a large percentage of my work load. I enjoy solving the puzzle and creating layouts that improve the habitable accommodation for my clients, centred on getting natural light in, using natural materials in a sustainable way and increasing insulation level wherever possible. I can handle all aspects of the building project but gaining the initial planning approval or permitted development letter is the first step.....
New Build Houses
I have designed a number of contemporary and more traditional one off houses, and multiple housing schemes. No one solution fits all, so the challenge of providing unique homes and housing schemes that fit their context and surroundings is a real passion of mine. In addition I believe my conservation training helps me to design schemes in even the most sensitive of historical settings. I am strong believer that we should be building more energy efficient and sustainable homes and housing schemes for us and future generations to enjoy.
Heritage Statements and Research Work
I enjoy the research side of historic building work; finding the stories and uncovering the history of the site or heritage asset. I have experience writing Conservation Management Plans, Heritage Impact Assessments and shorter Heritage Statements to accompany funding applications and planning permissions.
