What do you love most about your job?
I live for the AHa! moment when my students grasp a new topic or recognise how learning relates to their everyday life. For example, the addition of decimal numbers where they can recognise the importance of their maths skills when estimating a shopping bill or simply noticing decimal numbers at a petrol station.
When children see progress or are able to persevere until they achieve mastery, I am thrilled. My students' grow in confidence as a result of these triumphs. I find it tremendously fulfilling to assist children in discovering their abilities and then developing those strengths into regular mental habits. It gives me great pleasure to know that I have supported pupils in developing abilities that they will use for the rest of their life.
What inspired you to start your own business?
As a full time primary teacher, there are so many topics and lessons taught throughout the year that there is not always enough time to revisit certain topics for pupils that struggled. This is when I found a great passion for teaching small groups or one-to-one lessons to review misconceptions and re-gain pupil self-confidence in a subject.
Vision Tutors is a private tutoring service, specifically for primary aged pupils to build their confidence and have the important foundation skills in English and Maths before beginning high school.

SPaG: This refers to the spelling, punctuation and grammar tests that form part of the English SATs.

KS1 SATS - Primary Year 2
Vision Tutors can help your child achieve their best with the following Maths SATS papers they will take toward at the end of year 2.
Paper 1 is an arithmetic test which should take around 15 minutes. It will consist of 25 marks.
Paper 2 involves reasoning, problem solving and mathematical fluency. This paper has 35 marks available, will last for roughly 35 minutes, and contains a variety of question types.

KS1 English grammar, punctuation and spelling SATs
At Vision Tutors we know that SATS preparation can feel overwhelming. We can help you child to perform their best at a learning pace that suits them.
Overview:
Paper 1 is a 20 word spelling test worth 20 marks which should take roughly 15 minutes.
Paper 2 is a punctuation, grammar and vocabulary test. It comes in two sections of around 10 minutes each, and the paper is worth 20 marks.
