The solar panel battery system supplied and fitted by Ecosmart and their contractors took over 5 weeks to complete when it was supposed to be completed in one day. The system has not worked properly since handover and has effectively been unusable for a number of weeks with many serious issues and no resolution at all has been offered by Ecosmart UK. Our biggest concern is the solar panel system has a potential output of 10.4 KWH which is equivalent to approximately 43 amps. The system is connected to a 16amp trip that if the sun is at all bright (typically between 9 and 10 am) trips to prevent the circuit overheating one electrician advised us it was a potential fire hazard.
We asked for the opinion of the NICEIC regarding the electrical installation work completed and received the following assessment.


"With regards to the 16A circuit breaker tripping, this will be due to the circuit breaker being overloaded. 4kW of power on a 230V system will require 17.39A of current to flow and 5kW of power at 230V will require 21.74A of current to flow. Over a prolonged period, this level of current will cause the bi-metallic strip within the circuit breaker to deflect and operate the tripping mechanism to prevent any thermal damage from occurring.



The three circuit breakers (16A, 40A & 32A) on the left-hand side of the photograph are not installed as per the manufacturer’s instructions. The manufacturer would typically recommend that a replacement busbar (Solid copper bar) is used to connect the additional circuit breakers, we do not believe that they would confirm that they could be connected using pieces of 4mm2 single-insulated conductors as can be seen within the photographs."

The company trades under more than one name with payments being paid through a company called TAGGAS the companies house name is UK Ecosmart Ltd with the company name registered late 2022
