Couldn’t recommend Jess more highly - she’s made me feel so much more comfortable when I need to leave Charlie to go to work and I feel really confident that he’ll get an active walk that will use all his energy! It’s great coming home knowing that if I’m tired too we can have a lovely chilled evening together! What do you love most about your job?
I love being out running on the trails with the dogs. Favourite trails to take them are around Box Hill, Surrey Hills and the North Downs Way.
I love seeing the dogs enjoying themselves - we always get comments from other walkers about how happy the dogs look! They love it.
The other really rewarding part of the job is seeing very high energy dogs that owners are having trouble to keep in check thrive by giving them enough physical and mental exercise. It is often the case that as soon as dogs start getting enough of the right exercise behaviour problems can start to disappear and previously stressed dogs start being great companions at home for their families.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I love spending time with my dogs and quickly got into trail running with them (alongside agility and flyball) as I found a standard walk around the park just wasn't enough for them. Also being a fosterer with Spaniel Aid UK, I see a lot of dogs relinquished by families that really love them but are struggling - usually with behavioural problems that arise from the dog being bored or frustrated. In many cases, if the right exercise and mental stimulation is given these dogs would be wonderful for their families - I set up Trail & Tail to hopefully provide a solution so that we can try to help more dogs stay in loving homes and live fulfilled and stimulating lives.

Trail & Tail is a professional and reliable service that your dog will love. Our point of difference is that we specialise in more challenging trail running for high energy dogs with Jess having experience of working strain spaniels and being a keen ultra runner. However, don't be put off if your dog is more of a couch potato! We also do group walks where we'll partner similar energy breeds together if your dog needs something a little less challenging. We also offer a bootcamp for those athletes in waiting - programmes designed to bring fitness levels up (and usually a few pounds off!)
As standard, we will text on collection and drop off to give you peace of mind. We provide lots of photos and a report on how your dog behaved. We are fully insured and transport in an air conditioned vehicle.
