Services

Hi! I’d like to DJ your event and provide a great experience that you and your guests will love.

To assure you that you’re getting great value for money and to explain my services, I’d like to outline what I will provide for your event…

I’m a DJ with extensive experience of playing in all kinds of clubs and private events, both indoor and outdoor. I started DJ’ing about 20 years ago when I wanted to mix the music I hear, not just dance to it.

I will provide music to suit the atmosphere and energy-levels of your guests. I’m happy to take requests from your guests unless you would like me to stick to a particular theme or playlist. My core style is mixed dance music from the 90’s to current day and that usually works very well with a crowd. I collect new music all the time, so my playlist is right up to date with current club hits. However, I’ve played all kinds of events: Lounge with a hint of Jazz, Clean-lyrics Pop for school discos, Britpop, 80’s Hair-band Rock, Classic Rock from the 60’s and 70’s, Drum and Bass or House for aficionados, Industrial Metal and Alternative Rock for people who really like to dress in black. It’s fun every time and I really enjoy playing music that gets the crowd going, whatever that may be. Let me know what you like and I can prepare a killer set. I usually don’t use the microphone much, unless it is to make announcements. Most people want to hear the music, rather than the DJ.

All music is legitimately sourced in high quality audio formats for great sound quality. I like to accommodate requests but I won't allow guests to plug their phones etc.. into my equipment for safety and for reasons of audio quality. All my audio equipment is professional-grade from Pioneer/Denon DJ/Yamaha/Native Instruments. All electrical equipment has passed current PAT-testing requirements and I have public liability insurance for £5m.

I bring a 4-channel Club Mixer, 10-way PA mixer, Club Media Players, Booth, PA system, Pneumatic Speaker Stands, DMX Controlled Lighting (moving-head and multi-cell), Lighting Stands, Microphone, cabling, wireless DMX dongles. DMX controller and software for the lighting. Backup controller and laptop, Backup playback source. Fog machine optional if the venue permits it.

My usual set up is to use a Club Mixer and a pair of Club Media Players without a computer. I like them better to interface with the crowd rather than looking at a computer screen. However, if your event has only a small space available for the DJ (e.g. behind a bar) I can switch to using one of my compact DJ controllers to fit in.

I can operate outside if it is waterproof and shaded from the sun in the DJ area. My Yamaha PA system is good for up to 250 people (if you have more, let me know and I can augment the PA system). I use rain covers to protect the PA speakers when outside. If power is needed, I can provide my own portable generator to run the DJ equipment. Message or call me about this service if you need it.

If your event includes live bands, they usually play in a 45 minute set with 15 minute break. I can provide lead-in music before their set and during their breaks on my PA. Message or call me about this service if you need it.

My fee includes travel to the event, setup 1 hour before and breakdown for 1 hour afterwards. I need access to the event building or site from 1 hour before a performance to set up, troubleshoot and perform a soundcheck. I will need to park a car as close as possible to the event to load and unload.

I hope this helps with your planning and I’ll work hard to make it goes smoothly and everyone has a great time!

Thurston.
