We always like to try somewhere new and although we love a good curry, it’s good to get something a bit different from the norm.
We weren’t disappointed at all…..From the initial warm friendly greeting when we arrived, we were shown through to the bar for a pre dinner drink. The happy smiling barman was so polite and welcoming. The dining room itself was lovely with plenty of space between tables; and although quite busy, it wasn’t too noisy so we could enjoy our own conversations!
The food was outstanding…..starting with a mouth watering Amuse Bouche that really set the tone for the rest of the meal. We ordered the Welsh Lamb and The Venison…..both absolutely delicious….highly recommend the black lentils as a side dish too! The service itself was fabulous too and we cannot fault how attentive all the staff were. We don’t usually manage dessert, but we shared the chocolate & mint mousse, which was absolutely divine. An after dinner Limoncello and coffee were on the house as a thank you from the management for travelling from
Bristol to enjoy our wonderful meal. We will DEFFO be back to try the Spring tasting menu, which we have been advised is outstanding…..will need to get a cab for that one!! with the wine tasting alongside! But highly recommend this fabulous place and will ensure friends and family pay a visit too.

Our family meal at The Mahal last night for my birthday was beyond all expectations. Right from entering the staff couldn’t do enough to help and advise. The food was second to none and truly stunning in presentation. To top it off, my fiancé had organised a birthday cake that the chef presented on a plate with handwritten well wishes in chocolate. I was stunned at the excellent level of service, care and commitment when we went to visit yesterday. From the front desk, management through to the chef himself. All very attentive and took extra care to make sure my family and I were happy. The food was exquisite and this really has been a hidden gem of our trip to the area. I would highly recommend. Fantastic place to go. The food is wonderful, and accompanied by good service. Tables are not crammed in. so there's space - and it's a beautiful building. The menu is a mix of Thai and Indian, so there's plenty to choose from. I can recommend the Chettinad. Parking is outside.
