Went to the hideaway for lunch today had sausage and mash asked about pepper as I have a bad tongue her the waiter ask about it the chef said he would not boil more potatoes for 20 mins to not add pepper, fair enough but the gravy was very very salty, I had a velvet cake for pudding was rock hard and had no more again fair enough but the language from the kitchen was terrible saying the f word at least 4 times between them. would not go back and would not recommend. I called to this lovely place on a whim as my wife was visiting a local hair salon. I had falafel with a chilli and hummus for starter which was absolutely perfect, a fantastic choice of flavours. Main course I decided on the chicken and chorizo burger, the burger being a perfectly cooked chicken breast, served on a soft brioche type roll with garnish. I opted for the skin fries which complemented the burger. As it was early evening the restaurant was just starting to busy mid week, so I retired to the comfy sofas that overlook the beautiful glass fronted terrace with a barista prepared americano and cream. A mid week meal in a relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable setting with good food and a lovely atmosphere. I shall return with my wife when I’ve completed my imminent period of convalescing. Had an almost identical experience to a previous reviewer Alan...sat by the kitchen and witnessed and heard ..let's say a best Unwanted conversation between the "chef" and waiting staff. ..waited best part of an hour to be told that our food would becoming out staggered... for a table of 5. I then said forget it...and left. This was after being told after orders being taken they were out of several ingredients...if the "chef" spent more time cooking and less throwing toddler tantrums it could have been good. Family meal. Not a good experience. We were sat near the Kitchen and there was obvious and noisy tension between the front of house and kitchen staff which quite uncomfortable. I saw two junior members of staff getting visibly upset. Our waitress had too many covers and seemed at times to be getting bullied by the kitchen staff. We had a long wait for food which was very average, with the roast potatoes hard and dry and the roast chicken looked like it had been boiled. At £30 per head, I would expect much better. I also found, what I assume was the front of house manager, to be unhelpful and frankly quite rude. Will NOT be returning. I have had some feedback from the owner and have been advised that action has been taken in relation to the way I saw staff being treated. More...

I had a bit of an unpleasant experience there where I went on a bank holiday and saw the sign said 'closed', but the place looked quite packed out through the window. I popped my head in and asked the young waitress behind the counter if they were open. She looked confused and said "yes of course!". I said, your sign says 'closed', do you want me to spin it round for you? And she said "yes please!" and then she asked us to wait while she found us a table. Next thing I know, a big tall bloke who I assume was the manager is stomping over and telling me off in front of everyone for touching his sign and telling us to leave because they were in fact closed (but nobody had bothered to tell the waitress, so I don't blame her). It was was really intimidating and embarrassing - I hate confrontation and was made to feel really small. I tried to explain the situation but the damage was done by that point so I just left feeling really awkward and embarrassed. I just think he could have handled kindly instead of aggressively; I'm sure they will reply to deny it but this is my honest experience (and I've seen other people complain about him in reviews so I know that I'm not alone). So yeah, I don't think I will be going back there again. It's not a massive loss for us personally; the food is okay but mostly style over substance. I've eaten there a couple of times and I've always been a bit disappointed - it's very expensive and the quality doesn't match up. Just for balance, I will give some positives: the decor is really nice, we loved the plants, I've had a couple of nice coffees there plus they do a decent hot chocolate, and there was a young male waiter there once who was very friendly and made sure we had a nice experience. Super restaurant tucked away in Seamills. Our waitress Suzie was wonderful. So welcoming and provided excellent friendly service. The food was superb. Dropped by on a whim for some lunch, had a Hot Chick burger and the Mushroom Rigatoni both DELICIOUS. We were served by Susie who was attentive, efficient and proactive. We met friends for a casual dinner on a Wednesday. The restaurant was warm and comfortable on a cold winters evening. Food was excellent with a good range of options to match everyone’s requirements. Service was warm and attentive with good input to our questions. Wine selection was good with our choice of Grenache Rose a good match for our range of food. Special mention has to go out to the fish and chips - an excellent piece of fish perfectly prepared - and the burgers which had delicious fresh brioche buns. Was here with my family and friends for dinner while visiting Bristol. The decoration and atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and fancy. However, food was kind of disaster. I had ordered a portion of pork belly which was chewy as rubber, cabbage and sauteed potatoes were tasteless. Then, a waiter agreed to not charge that dish and offered me something else for replacement which was satisfied. Other than that, there was one thing which I didn't like and got offended by a member of staff, that staff was being really stereotype and judged us that we must be from the "specific" country because we are Asian ethnic. As a British Asian, I think that is totally unacceptable and ignorant to speak to customers with this kind of manner. More...
