I attended a wedding here on 25th June I was in plaster for a broken leg. I couldn’t fault the staff they couldn’t do enough for me which made me feel so much more at ease the whole wedding was beautiful an absolutely beautiful hotel I’d highly recommend to anyone, and would definitely stay here as an overnight guest.

We went for afternoon tea- a Mothering Sunday gift voucher from our son. We thoroughly enjoyed our tea which was served in a cosy corner of the bar area. There was a nice selection of sandwiches, scones jam and cream and cakes. Roger was so attentive and kept us supplied with tea and hot water. A very pleasant time on a cold and wet afternoon. do not stay in room 36 especially on a Saturday night ,could hear the police at 1.30 am called to trouble at the walkabout bar opposite. no aircom a very stuffy box room not worth what I paid at all bulb out in one of the lights ,can not open any windows due to the noise and you face a brickwall with industrial bins against, and the young folk from bars use it as a cut through and somewhere to urinate just not worth the money at all ,got up and left at 8 am More...

Nice hotel with lots of shops and things to do nearby, lots of free goodies in the hotel room. The room its self was huge and bed were very comfortable. Nice staff and good service. However, when it came to the afternoon tea not a great selection of cakes and the sandwiches were full of fat and the egg one was stone cold also we asked for no butter but received butter. The scones that we had however, were warm and delicious. The breakfast that we had in the morning was perfectly acceptable with lots to choose from and a full english breakfast. So overall we had a great experience and would come again but next time wouldn't have the afternoon tea :) More...

We had our wedding here this week.... we cannot fault this hotel at all!
We loved this hotel from When we first viewed it.
From our initial booking, to having to postpone because of covid, the team have done everything possible to make our dream wedding.
On the day we had our own coordinator Daniel and he could not have done enough for us, our room
Was decorated exactly how we wanted, the food was beautiful, tasty and presented beautifully.
The bar staff and hotel staff all very professional.

One of the best Santa experiences we have had with my disabled son. The staff were wonderful and really created the magic of Christmas for the whole family. The food was delicious, especially the chocolate brownie, and my 3 year old is still in a state of excitement after hearing all the updates on Santa radio as he made his way towards the hotel. The magician was a delight and so thoughtful as he checked the best way to communicate with my son, who has complex disabilities. All of the staff were polite and a joy to speak to. The George is an amazing place to go, 6 months ago I had my wedding here and the staff couldn't do enough for me and my guests to make the day incredible, especially Alan, Helen and Abbie, they were cool and calm even when I was flapping with things going wrong (as the always do on your wedding day). The guests complimented the venue, food and staff, still to this day. Last night, I attended a murder mystery night and it was brilliant, it brought back lovely memories being here and seeing the staff again. The food as always was first class, as well as the service, the staff really do outdo themselves. We will be returning for another great night soon. More...

My husband and I had our Wedding Breakfast and Reception at The George Hotel back in October last year and had a truly fantastic time! Everything looked so beautiful and the staff set our room up perfectly – it was wonderful to see all our hard work come to fruition! So we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved – especially Helen Davis who went above and beyond to make sure our day was as wonderful as it was. Been many times and had great lunches! Today was dreadful. The service was very poor no where near enough staff! Always seems to be when there is an event or a wedding on they don’t put extra staff on duty! I felt sorry for the team on duty today as there was a lack of support from the senior team and there was no one guiding staff. The restaurant team need to have there own sections to wait upon not waiting upon the whole restaurant! Please The George take heed upon these comments than keep spreading yourself so thinly to do everything rather than looking after your core role! More...

Celebrated our Ruby wedding anniversary last Sunday. Everything went very well indeed. Very attentive staff including Hollie, Phil and Alec. Always very helpful. Carvery lovely too.
