I’m a fussy bugger when it comes to food, a classically trained chef with experience in 4 star hotel kitchens and a 1 Michelin star restaurant. When we booked for a meal at the Broadcroft Bar and Grill In Kirkintilloch, I was quite expecting to be disappointed but how wrong I was. This is the old Smiths hotel that has undergone a massive renovation during the pandemic. It’s now the Broadcroft Hotel. The menu is extensive, that’s normally a red flag for me but their menu didn’t disappoint. A really good range of dishes and cuisines, from steaks to seafood, vegetarian, vegan and beyond. There’s obviously been a lot of thought put into it. Our table had two ribeyes, cooked to perfection (medium rare and medium well) with super crispy thrice cooked fries, roasted cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, crispy onion rings, the peppercorn sauce on one was spot on. I ordered the bernaise sauce, a little too runny for my liking but it tasted great. Our other diner has the lasagne, best she’d ever tried she said. Desserts were a Pina colada creme brulee, cinnamon brioche pain perdu with rum and raisin ice cream and a sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. I don’t do desserts but the pain perdu was super tasty and the others loved their desserts just as much. The food and service were excellent, friendly, professional and a big thanks to the kitchen brigade for getting the food spot on. Only other comment would be that if someone asks for a straw, please dont bring it out holding it by the end and plonk it in the drink, either wrap it or have it on a plate so the guest can pick it up themselves. First visit to the new Hotel and would highly recommend it. Looks great inside and out albeit casual parking is an issue that side of the town. This is outwith the control of the Hotel though. Friendly yet unobtrusive service, with an extensive and well-balanced menu. The food was excellent and will ensure the Hotel stands out locally as something very different and not previously catered for. Went for breakfast, all 4 ov us had no issues, it was beautiful, kids cutlery was a nice touch and calling before hand too see if we needed high chairs, can't wait too go back again.

Fantastic experience from start to Finnish. From booking the table the girl on the phone was so helpful and pleasant. When we arrived WOW what a amazing refurbishment. We where greeted on arrival and shown to our seat by a very friendly polite young man. We ordered drinks the best cocktails I’ve ever had. The menu was great I loved the french twist to it. The food was amazing and the staff thought out our whole time there where attentive and very professional. I felt relaxed and was not rushed at all Lovely break in between courses. Service was all over the place ordered drinks before meal waited 15 minutes no drinks had to go to the bar myself and reorder music way to loud couldn't hear myself speak maby a bit less dance music when wanting a quiet meal food was OK bit pricey hubby ordered the muscles but most of them were closed so only got to eat about half of them. Newly refurbished to such a high standard, absolutely stunning inside. Booked for lunch, the menu choices were excellent and the food didn't disappoint when it arrived, lovely and fresh ingredients, fantastic presentation. The dessert Pascal's gourmand, a selection of 4 mini desserts, all were delicious, great for sharing. I can't wait to go back and this time I'll include a visit to the bar to sample one of their cocktails from the extensive list. First time coming to the restaurant, ordered the fish and chips with sides. Noticed fish was raw, told manager who directed me to the assistant manager without communicating that to me. fish was replaced. batter was over done to make sure fish was cooked. asked 3 different waiters for a glass of wine. assistant manager offered to take one fish off the bill and I said I would wait till I had the replacement. I was then given the full bill. I felt the assistant manager was getting argumentative with the bill. stating I was away from the table for a long time to discuss it which I wasn't, he stated he could check CCTV!!!
