Liz was really great to work with through the consultation process and upon delivery. Liz created the most beautiful personalised wedding cake for us that fit into the feel and theme of our wedding perfectly! Not only did Liz’s fruit cake make me change my mind on not liking it, but the lemon and ginger were the most mouthwatering cake flavours which we selected as well. Liz Chatfield of Sylvia’s Kitchen is a cake maker and designer to rival the very best. I met Liz earlier this year for a wedding cake consultation. We started by tasting the cake options, which were absolulty delicious, really the very best, Liz then asked me to talk about my design ideas and said that she would sketch the cake as we talked. She asked me many questions during this process and not just about the cakes design. Questions about my partner and the things we loved. I had imagined the cake in my mind for a very long time but I could not quite transfer those thoughts to paper. Suddenly after Liz’s artful questioning, there it was on the paper in front of me. Liz had designed my dream cake. The wedding was going to be very special and now we had a cake to match. I hadn’t consulted my husband as I wanted it to be a surprise for him. So then I started to worry. Would the detail be fine enough, would it be precession straight, would it fit the family cake stand, and would it taste as if it were baked that morning. Liz reassured me that all was good and that it would be beautiful. “call me any time with any questions” and she meant it. So the wedding day came and Liz arrived with the cake. My partner and I came into the marquee where the caterers, staff, crew, photographers, and family members were all working away. The place came to an absolute standstill and there were genuine gasps of amazement, not mention tears all round. Who knew a cake could be so important, and have such an impact. The cake was utterly beautiful and far exceeded my ridiculously high expectations. It was a very personal cake with a lot of family symbolism and details of our lives together weaved into it. Exquisite, intricate, immaculately detailed decoration, with piping and sugar work you would not believe. The cake was made up of four tiers, each of a different flavour and of course it tasted truly delicious. “as though it was baked that morning” It also stayed fresh for several days. This cake was so delicious it could have easily been served as the dessert at the lunch. My initial cake search was with the top London makers, but a friend sent me a link to Sylvia’s kitchen, and once I met the adorable Liz I never looked back. Her standard of work, total commitment, level of detail, and complete understanding of what it is the client wants, is second to none. I would even go as far as to say that Liz is better than most of those Mayfair Cake Makers, several of whom I have used for other events. Liz at Sylvias Kitchen created a beautiful three tier wedding cake for us recently. We had three layers one of chocolate and cherry kirsch, one of raspberry and vanilla and champagne sponge and one of passion fruit and lemon! It tasted gorgeous and looked beautiful. Wow did we have the most amazing wedding cake!!! We first met Liz when we had our tasting session. Liz was very friendly & very professional. It was a very hard choice to what sponge we went for as they were all so delicious!! We had a different idea for a cake & hoped that Liz could master it for us & my word did she! When you have something in mind & your worried to whether it’s going to look how you imagined well we were totally blown away to how it looked, it was 100 times better than I thought it could be! It truly was amazing!! We had 5 tiers of mixed cakes (yum yums, brownies, sugar donuts, iced donuts & a iced square sponge) the top tier was a naked sponge. Liz made our cake for our wedding back in February and we can honestly say we could not have asked for more. From start to finish Liz was fantastic and the cake was out of this world! From the first consultation Liz sat us down and we discussed everything from colours, shapes and flavours. When it came to our wedding day we could not wait to see the finished result and we were totally amazed and so happy with it. It was beautiful and tasted supurb! Liz did such a great job during the initial meeting/tasting session and was very welcoming at her lovely home in the countryside. She had a selection of show cakes that she showed us and went through all of our requirements, capturing everything perfectly. We also tasted all of the cake/filling options we selected in advance and washed it all down with a cup of tea.Liz dealt with the wedding venue directly so we didn’t have to worry about arranging the delivery which was one less thing to worry about on the day.The guests absolutely loved it, wolfing all three tiers down within seconds.Highly recommended - thank you Liz! Thank you so much for your cake! It looked amazing and tasted wonderful! We had so many people comment on how good it was! Quite a few of our guests stayed overnight, and when they realised there was still some uncut cake left in the morning we had a queue of people wanting to take a bit home with them! We just wanted to say a massive thankyou for a seamless and stress free service from start to finish, a really stunning looking wedding cake (which also tasted exceptional! ) We were amazingly lucky to have Elizabeth recommended to us. It’s the only cake I’ve ever eaten at a wedding that actually tasted good, most seem to be style over substance and by the time it comes to eating them they are dry and not in the best of states. You made our day extra special with the most amazing cake. Everyone loved our cake and finished most of it on the wedding night (leaving us less to have later unfortunately! ! :) ). Working with Liz at Sylvia's Kitchen was a pleasure from start to finish. She is professional and prompt in all of her communication. She listened to my ideas and helped me carefully place my order, as well as guiding me in choosing non-toxic flowers through my florist that could be placed on the cake. Liz sent us samples in the post because we live in London, which was so convenient and helpful. In the lead up to the wedding she had excellent communication and confirmed all of the details. She made the day of the wedding easy by coordinating with our venue to set up the cake. The cake itself was a naked cake decorated with flowers and thistles. The cake was absolutely delicious and incredibly beautiful. All of our guests commented on how nice it looked and how good it tasted! Liz's prices seemed very reasonable to me based on the quality of service she offers. I cannot recommend Sylvia's Kitchen enough - they were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Liz is incredibly talented, she was bursting with creative ideas and within minutes had sketched the most perfect cake for our wedding - it was stylish, elegant and completely unique. The hardest part for us was choosing the flavours because every cake sample tasted amazing! Everything else was easy thanks to Liz.
The finished cake was absolutely stunning, it's incredible how Liz brought her design to life; the colour was striking, the finish was flawless, and Liz's hand crafted detail was so intricate it almost didn't look real. It was a work of art and we didn't want to cut it! But we were glad we did because every tier (chocolate, lemon, and fruit) was utterly delicious and bursting with flavour. Many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding cake they'd seen and tasted - and that is exactly what you hope for at your wedding!

After following a recommendation from our wedding venue The George in Rye, and meeting Liz at a local wedding fair, the process to design, create and deliver our cake was smooth and a total pleasure.

Not only was our cake truly stunning and exactly how i imaged (nearly naked cake with dark berries and winter flowers), it was also delicious and all our guests enjoyed every mouthful. The only shame was not getting my hands on the leftover the next day.

We first discovered Liz when our wedding venue owners at Saltcote Place recommended Sylvia’s Kitchen from previous experience. We both agree asking Liz to make our wedding cake was one of the best decisions we made in relation to our big day.

From start to finish Liz was accommodating and the ultimate professional. Our wedding cake made for us was absolutely delicious and so, so beautiful. We chose 3 different flavours and each was simply stunning - the chocolate was to die for and the fruit layer just so incredibly flavourful. The cake was iced and decorated to perfection and it looked beautiful in our marquee.

Not only that, but the tasting with Liz was incredible. The samples were all wonderful, and Liz’s workshop was really inspiring. Liz did such a wonderful job with our beautiful wedding cake. It was truly stunning and tasted absolutely delicious! We have had so many compliments from our guests! We had dreams of eating cake all week after our wedding but our guests enjoyed it so much there was hardly any left!

It took my breath away when I saw how beautiful it looked- the sugar flowers were so intricate- so many people have said they had to look closely to see if they were real flowers! I couldn't believe it also tasted so good! Liz is truly talented and we're really very grateful for all her hard work.

Liz designed and made such a spectacular cake for our Wedding Day. It looked so incredible standing on the table in the middle of the dance floor at Ashdown Park Hotel with the fabulous stained-glass window behind it. We wanted fresh flowers between the tiers of the cake so Liz liaised with our florist to match the flowers to the rest of our theme. It was completely stress free for us. We were absolutely delighted with the finished product. It definitely had the wow factor!

As well as looking amazing it also tasted first class. We received many compliments on the cake. It certainly exceeded both of our expectations.

WOW is all I can say to our cake...
It was one of the things we didn't get to see until the day, we had been planning it for a few months so we were very nervous & excited to see how it turned out. . but WOW...we were blown away by how stunning it was. From the over all look of the cake right down to the flavour of the sponge was out of this world.
We can't thank you enough Liz, you really are one amazingly talented lady!
