My main focus is on portraiture, editorial, and corporate work, and I go to great length to get the images my clients are looking for. I chase the best light for striking images whether this means being on location at 6am and/or very late in the evening. I confirm the stereotype of the well-organised, thorough, reliable and punctual German while my many years in the UK have taught me to not take things too seriously when necessary. I capture the crucial moments to tell my client’s story, make people feel relaxed in front of the camera and, as one client for whom I photographed a T’ai Chi retreat put it, I have warrior like qualities; i.e. I am mostly invisible when documentary style photography is asked for.

Local community is also very important to me, and I have been photographing extensively in my South London neighbourhood - Streatham. This includes local events, various initiatives and a personal project about Streatham High Road and its perfect microcosm of multicultural Britain. This project was exhibited and also self-published as a book.
Last but not least, I love working on self-initiated projects, which are close to my heart. Whether it is in far off places or in my own back yard, exploring and telling stories of people and their lives, struggles and successes fascinates and moves me. The insight and better understanding one (and hopefully the audience) gains through meeting an amazing variety of people with ones’ camera truly is a privilege.
