Fed up with having to repeatedly re-point the edges of your tiled roof?

Our installations provide the only permanent maintenance-free solution to the problem of tiled edges on roofs. We fit the latest uPVC Dry Verge systems, suitable for weather-proofing almost all types of tiled and slated roof edges.

Tiled roofs have a cement infill on the edges of the roof above the bargeboards. This tiled edge cracks and perishes causing the cement to drop out (potentially on you or your car!) and the edge to become insecure in high winds.

Dry Verge look so much better than cement and will hold your tiles in place even in severe weather. Our own specially developed Dry Verge installation system provides additional fixings for ultimate protection and ensures a permanent and completely secure edge to your roof.

We also install Dry Verge systems suitable for slated and small-tile roofs .

Before fitting Dry Verge we always remove all the existing perished cement from the tiled edge as this only serves to retain moisture causing the tile battens to deteriorate. This has the added bonus of improving ventilation to help preserve the tile battens. We trim the tiles to give the precise overhang specified by the Dry Verge unit manufacturer. We then check the condition of the existing tile battens and roofing felt and repair as necessary. Next we install an additional longitudinal tanalised timber batten for extra strength and security. Finally after all this thorough preparation we securely fix the Dry Verge units into place.

In addition we can maintain your RIDGE TILES in 3 ways:

By the traditional method of removal, cleaning, re-bedding and repointing your existing clay ridge tiles. However this will always require periodic renewal as in time the weather will loosen the ridge tiles requiring the process to be repeated every few years By the more secure method of a roll-out dry ridge system which retains your existing clay tiles secures them to the ridge beam of your roof with proprietary fixings and clamping plates.

By the permanent method of completely removing your existing clay ridge tiles and replacing them with Smartridge uPVC ridge tiles screwed directly into the ridge beam of your roof. Not only does this eliminate the need for any further maintenance it also improves the ventilation in your loft space reducing the risk of condensation. Smartridge is suitable for hipped roofs as well as the main ridge at the apex.

All our installations are undertaken by our experienced teams of professional qualified joiners to ensure the highest quality standards on every job.

Damp Proofing Blackpool

Rising Dampness can develop within walls due to the lack of an effective damp proof course or the omission of damp proofing during earlier construction.

Rising dampness may be found during a Building Survey, by tests carried out to the base of the damp walls, however in more severe cases of prolonged dampness, visible damp patches may appear, along with hygroscopic salts on the wall surfaces.

Effective treatment requires removal of the wall plaster to approximately one metre or higher (depending on the salts within the masonry and several other factors) along with the installation of a new damp proof course within the damp walls.

We offer;

Driveway Cleaning
4 Steps to total satisfaction!

The service we provide involves a 4 stepped cleaning process. Each stage is described below.

Step 1 - Surface Cleaning

In all likelihood, you will have looked at your hard surface areas - drive, patio, decking - and wondered why their appearance has deteriorated over time. What is the best way to revive your drive, perk up your patio or spruce up your decking? In fact, by just cleaning your paving / drive / patio areas with specialist equipment, we will transform that 'tired' look to a 'like new' appearance again. Using purpose made equipment, we clean the hard surface concerned with a contained and concentrated high pressure water jet. This removes moss and algae, grime and general outdoor dirt that etches onto hard surfaces over time.

Most importantly, our industrial machines are not only more powerful than any equipment you might be able to hire (or even buy!), but we take care of the cleaning process without the downsides associated with home pressure washers which consume high volumes of water and send water shooting in all directions!

Step 2 - Fungicidal wash

We can help you maximise the intervals between drive maintenance work by using a fungicidal spray. Application of a fungicide kills off residual dislodged spores of moss and lichen. These spores have been totally removed from the surface, restoring the "wow" factor. To keep that "wow" factor, it's best to "zap" the area with a fungicide to stop the critters lurking in the gaps and coming back any time soon !

Step 3 - Re-sanding

We will re-sand any jointing material dislodged during the cleaning process, so all weeds can be removed, with peace of mind that the jointing will be re-instated like new! We will brush in all the jointing with fresh sand. Not just any old sand - we use kiln dried sand which is the right tool for the job. You may well ask: is that it - just cleaning and re-sanding the jointing? Well, not quite! If you want your cleaned Surfaces to remain looking fresh for as long as possible, we recommend a third step: applying a finishing layer of protective sealant of acrylic coating.

Step 4 - Sealant

We certainly recommend that you seriously consider having a coat of clear protective sealant sprayed over the pre-treated area of paving concerned. This will prolong the life of the treatment and keep your revitalised paving area looking its best for much longer. Put it this way, while we are on site already, it makes sense to pay a little bit extra to protect your hard surfaces for much longer, so that you and your property will get the maximum benefit from calling the specialists in!

Unfortunately, when you buy your home you do not receive an instruction booklet or owners manual. Your home is often one of your most expensive purchases you will make. Protecting and maintaining the roof that protects you, you’re family and your possessions should be a primary concern.

Keeping your roof free from moss and debris, whether it’s a total cleaning and sealing application or just a periodic loose debris tidy-up, will make all the difference to the lasting appearance and longevity of your roof. There are many factors that assist in the deterioration of roof tiles and the roofing structure. Whether its wind and rain or even moss, unmaintained a roof can be a costly replacement when left to deteriorate

In most cases new roof tiles remain structurally sound for many years, even after the protective coating has been lost. However, old tiles manufactured by hand or inferior quality and porous materials will degrade with age unless the protective surface coating is maintained.

Re-roofing is normally not necessary as restoration of a protective and decorative coating is a relatively simple and durable process if these guidelines are observed.

Provided quality products are used, the success of the restoration is entirely dependent on the degree of preparation carried out. It is important to keep in mind that without adequate preparation the life of the applied coating will be reduced.

If the roof has been correctly prepared and coated it will provide many years of service, improving both the appearance of the building and the protective function of the roof tiles.

Roughcast cleaning involved a special cleaning solution that is lightly sprayed over your walls, and then rinsed off. This type of low pressure soft washing ensures that no damage is caused during the cleaning process. High pressure washing systems may appear to gain the desired effect, but they cause irreparable damage to your build, as water penetrates the render through small and sometimes hairline cracks.

Our low pressure roughcast cleaning solution ensures that no pebbles will be dislodged or lost during the cleaning process. We use the same low pressure cleaning solutions for k render, brick, and stonework, working on both public and private properties. Our cleaning solutions will kill off algae and moss, preventing regrowth and ensuring your walls look like new for longer. Take a look at our technical information here, to find out just how our render cleaning solutions will really work for you.

Over time pebbledash walls become dirty with everyday grime & Fungi. Some older properties have a red dye that appears through the pebbledash, this is because the building sand used didn’t get treated prior to the build.

We use a chemical mixture that acts as a bleaching solution guaranteed to clean pebbledash. Once cleaned it is estimated to stay clean from 5/10 years depending on the surrounding area

Across Blackpool we are prone to damp weather, especially in winter. What this means is that pebbledash and render look old before their time. A once white building will become streaked with black and red oxide stains, or covered in unsightly moss and algae. You may think that the easiest way to get your building looking new again would be to paint it. But you would be wrong.

Painting over your roughcast is an expensive mistake. What you need is a cleaning and roughcast repair service you can rely on. Cleaning your building instead of painting over the dirt and grime will ensure it stays looking new for long. What’s more, cleaning your render is cheaper than a re-painting job. A win-win situation for all concerned.

Sureseal Roofing & Property Maintenance is a friendly, dedicated to providing a professional cleaning service for all the elements of your home.
