I asked this company to repair my guttering, and they agreed. When they didn't turn up I phoned them the next day and asked when were they going to do it. They said they would find out and call me back. Did they phone me back? Did they heck. More...

I was very disappointed with Leonard Hughes and his team and I would not recommend them. He came round promptly, offered me a good price and said there is a 10-year guarantee on the work, plus he had very good ratings on Bark so I felt confident and went ahead.
He put up a run of guttering which was clearly twisted and not level although he insisted it was. We agreed he would redo it, cutting the brackets into the fascia and sealing the cuts with silicone. Instead, without discussing, he put noggins behind the brackets. The gutter is still visibly not level (although again he insisted it was) and is now positioned so rain misses the gutter and runs down the wall. In a heavy rainstorm, almost no water was coming out of the downpipe. The little water that did come down was overflowing out of the waterbutt and running over the patio. He had cemented in the downpipe although I had asked him to leave it so I could add a grate. I removed the cement myself, and it was obvious that the downpipe doesn't work. He then said he would come round this week to fix it, then stopped communicating with me. I will have to pay someone else now to fix it. I asked Leonard for a partial refund to pay for redoing the gutter again, and he has not responded. So much for a 10-year guarantee!
On the same job, he was supposed to repoint areas of the wall for me. He explained he would grind out the mortar to a depth of 1.5inches and re-mortar. He did that in a few places. Most of it seems to be just new mortar smeared over the old mortar, from what I can tell, and there are clearly patches missed. Again, I will need to pay to have this completed properly. A bad experience, a faulty guttering set-up and a waste of hundreds of pounds. I can only hope other people have a better experience than I did. More...
