First and foremost, I am a UK-qualified teacher with extensive experience in both the classroom and in private tuition. I taught Mathematics in a variety of schools for ten years, both primary and secondary, in both the private and state sector. I also successfully ran my own Private Tuition business in Guildford for five years.

After a break from teaching, I am now once again a Private Maths Tutor, this time online (as I have lived in France since 2004, where my wife and I decided to start a whole new adventure in life.) In the intervening time, I have run my own property management business here in France.

Maths is a subject that, often, students of any age are simply afraid of. Building confidence in a student that they do have the ability (and everyone does) is absolutely vital. To this end, tailoring what and how I teach to the needs of the individual is really important. It is also a subject that, sometimes, needs to be explained in very different ways to different students. For example, one student will understand algebra in a very theoretical way, others relate better to a "real-life" comparison. You have to be very flexible in your ideas and approaches as a Maths teacher, and that's something that I have always prided myself on being able to do.

In just the last nine months with GoStudent, I have taught 600 hours of Mathematics online, so this is something with which I am now very familiar indeed. I can use Zoom, Skype or Google Meet, or indeed any other platform which a student may prefer.
