I and my friends recently commissioned Stephen's services to photograph our families. Our kids playing in the autumn leaves on National Trust property in Hertfordshire. The photographs that he produced were amazing in both colour and B&W. In a short half an hour slot he managed to get stunning natural portraits of us and our children in the great outdoors. He even came to our house and managed to get a fantastic image of our dog Watson, (we had been trying for months to capture a good shot but he always escaped when he saw the lens). Stephen is a phenomenal photographer, easy to get on with, builds rapport with clients (especially children and animals) and takes his photographs in a very relaxed and friendly manner. We contacted Steve, (Mac) to arrange a photographic tour, with some tuition around the Digbeth area of Birmingham in a quest to photograph the local graffiti. Mac took us to some amazing locations and we found some fantastic images and received some really helpful photographic tuition both being novices. We had a two hour walking around Digbeth looking at art work and taking photographs and started and finished tour in local pubs. I was in need of a Birmingham-based photographer to take photos of my partner who is an aspiring England boxer and employed Stephen for the job. After spending just an hour with Stephen in our local gym he had managed to capture some great action-shots and natural photographs achieved through the relaxed, comfortable and professional yet fun atmosphere. Stephen McDonald did the photography at our wedding in August 2019. We met him to discuss what we wanted. He was professional, listened to our ideas and made suggestions himself which were brilliant and complimented our own ideas. He also took time to visit both our church and reception venue to plan where certain shots would be taken. On the day he went above and beyond to make sure we got all the shots we wanted plus more. We genuinely couldn't have been happier with the final result, the images were unique and we were very satisfied; especially with the black and white reportage style images. I visited Birmingham recently wanting a tour of the city to photograph Urban Art and Graffiti around the Digbeth area. I contacted Stephen a local Birmingham based photographer who specialises in photographic tours and documenting Urban Art and Graffiti. We started off our tour at a local based bub where we had a review of where we would be going and highlighting the areas of photographic interest and we also talked about camera techniques and composition. Stephen gave us the full lowdown of how to get the best out of our cameras and how to use the relevant setting and techniques to capture images. Our tour around Digbeth lasted approximately two hours where we saw some fantastic art work combined with derelict, dilapidated properties and urban decay. Stephen was fantastic at sourcing very creative and political graffiti combined with expert tuition to get the best out of our photography for the afternoon. The tour finished in another pub within the same area, where we got a chance to review each other’s images and have a local beer and reflects on what we had photographed. A fantastic afternoon!I would highly recommend Stephen’s tours, they are fun, informative, creative and are very original especially coming from a local expert on the subject. Having a passion for Graffiti and Street Art my wife and I decided to visit Birmingham. We did some research on-line looking for walking tours and we found Stephen Mc Donald Photography who is listed as giving local photographic tours with tuition. My wife being a very keen amateur photographer decided to contact Stephen to see what he could offer. He provided a three hour tour combined with tuition to help my wife get the desired results from her photography and also took us to some fantastic locations unknown to outsiders to capture some amazing images.Our tour started and ended in a famous local pub known for Graffiti and of course for fine ales and he provided very personalised 1-2-1 tuition for my wife to get the best results from her expensive kit (much better than reading through arduous instruction manuals). His advice and knowledge enabled her to capture some fantastic creative images and allowed her to get the best images she has ever taken, even to put a small portfolio together for a photographic distinction.Stephen provided a fantastic walking tour where we found very inspiring and creative artwork, actually photographed artists working in progress and gave a great tour of the historic Digbeth area combined with the back drop of Urban Art.A really nice guy, straight forward to deal with and knows a thing or two about photography and the Urban Art scene. It was nice that the tour started and finished in a local pub that gave us the opportunity to talk about the subjects in nice surroundings. I was in need of some professional photographs for my social media to promote my new business. Stephen was recommended to me by a colleague who had already used his services and spoke extremely highly of the images he had received. I viewed the images for myself and was extremely impressed with the quality. I decided to contact Stephen and ask him for his help. Stephen was brilliant from the beginning through to the end of the process. He was professional, accommodating and was authentic in his approach to capturing great moments. I recieved a portfolio of 20 images, one version in colour and another in black & white. I have to say, I was absolutely amazed with the high quality and professional appearance of the images. Personal Training Photo ShootI contacted Stephen online as I was desperate for profile photographs for my Corporate Identity and my Personal Training profile. Stephen came to visit me at my local work place and arranged an hour photo shoot for me in my own controlled environment. He photographed me in a variety of locations formally and informally and the results were fantastic.In a short space of time I had a small portfolio of images to choose from including colour and black and white images all of extreme high quality and a very fast turnaround. Stephen was incredibly professional, had a full appreciation of the output that I required and above all else made me look great in my photographs that I can use for future corporate and marketing exercises.I will definitely be using him again and have already refereed him to two more of my colleagues for their own shoots.
