Daughter loves it

My daughter joined two years ago (then aged 13) primarily to improve her GSCE PE grade for trampolining. She has fun every session and has definitely received excellent coaching. Having a blend of ages and abilities in the classes works well with everyone able to train at their own level and pace and they learn from and encourage each other. The coach always encourages everyone to make progress in a fun way, and the standards required for completion of a move are upheld consistently, so when a child achieves they know they have truly done it. Smiles all round. More...

My daughter has been coming to Springfit for just over 2 years, since starting out at Funfit class when she was 5. It's been lovely to see how much progress she has made. Springfit is a friendly and well-run club and we love the new portal where you can track the progress against badge work, I'm constantly being asked by my daughter to check what elements she has passed and what she needs to practise! Thank you to everyone that works with her. More...

I have been going to the adult trampolining class for a few months now. I had been looking at trampoline parks, but then decided classes would be a better challenge. It's great fun with a nice class and a encouraging instructor. At first the exercise was exhausting but now its become an appreciated part of my weekly fitness.

The only problem is that we follow the advanced kids class, and if you arrive early you have to watch how amazing they are before the adult class starts.

Q&As

It's a fun and rewarding work environment! We help children go from being introduced to the sports to loving them and in many cases building a career in teaching them.

Wanting to provide people with the opportunity to build life skills while having fun

We stand for safety, fun and fitness. Focusing on recreational activities rather than the competitive side of our sports.

Services

Springfit Trampoline classes are suitable for children aged 4½+ from complete beginners level to advanced.

Trampolining is a great way to keep fit, and build essential life skills such as balance and co-ordination. These skills come in useful throughout all your life, on a day-to-day basis.

By gaining knowledge of spatial awareness, children and adults will find they are able to better understand and feel safer about the many varied situations encountered in the world. The typically adult facet of fear is challenged on the trampoline, and as you get to better understand the reactions of your environment, you understand how your own small movements affect that reaction. This leads to the reduction of fear and the development of greater achievement on the trampoline. Every child loves to bounce. It stems from an early childhood instinct to jump, and never leaves you. Which adult can honestly say they’ve never been tempted to climb on a garden trampoline to have a go?

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR TRAMPOLINE CLASSES

Whatever your level of experience, our classes are able to cater to your needs. Our classes are based loosely on age and ability (which tend to correlate, depending on length of involvement in the sport).

The earlier classes introduce children from age 4½ to trampolining, with improvers classes for slightly older children following it, and an adults class on Friday evenings.

ALL new members with no previous experience are first introduced to the Sports Development Foundation syllabus at level 3, whereby members will learn basic ‘straight jump’ skills such as star jumps, tuck jumps and half turns to initially familiarize themselves with the trampoline. We focus on individuals’ balance and co-ordination to ensure all moves, no matter how advanced, are always performed in the centre of the trampoline.

Each individual will progress at a different rate, and coaches will work to tailor moves to suitable ability levels. Some will achieve somersaults early, and require more control on some of the more basic moves, whereas others like to perfect the simpler moves and slowly build to confident somersaults.

All classes have members with varied abilities, which in many cases helps to motivate new starters, and encourage them to develop their skills to a high standard.

Springfit Gymnastics classes are suitable for children aged 4½+ from complete beginners level to advanced.

Gymnastics is a great way to keep fit, and learn about how the body can move. It can teach you skills so beneficial to every day activities that can even SAVE YOUR LIFE! From the relaxed style of our “open” Freestyle (parkour) classes to the discipline of vault and beam, there are so many varieties of gymnastics that everyone can take something from the sport.

At Springfit, we use elements from rhythmic gymnastics, aerobics, acrobatics, tumbling and the Olympic disciplines to create a varied class experience.

Getting to know your body, pushing its limits and challenging yourself is encouraged through all levels of classes, and regularly evaluated.

Most importantly, we think gymnastics should be fun. There is so much enjoyment to be gained from jumping over things, springing up, rolling around, twisting away and generally tumbling about in a safe environment, that we pack as much fun into classes as we can.

Our coaches will work with individuals to attain nationally recognized awards and build their skills base to as high level as possible, but only if it can be done while having fun!

We are keen to promote gymnastics to boys, and have several dedicated boys classes to help them develop skills specific to their needs.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR GYMNASTICS CLASSES:

Beginners Classes

Introducing children from age 4½ to gymnastics. Using basic skills to build balance, co-ordination and agility.

Intermediate/Improvers classes:

Building on members’ existing gymnastics experience. Developing moves such as handstands, cartwheels, round-off, squat-through on vault and introducing higher level acrobatics skills.

Building strength and flexibility through appropriate drills to enable bodies to be able to withstand the demands of more advanced moves.

Advanced classes

Developing gymnasts towards advanced skills and expanding overall capabilities and attitudes to training. Progressing onto moves such as flics, walkovers, handsprings and somersaults.

Springfit run combined gymnastic and trampoline classes with an emphasis on “fun” for pre-school aged children on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM FUNFIT CLASSES:

Age 2-4yrs:

Rotating three groups between 20 minutes of trampolining, gymnastic floor work and gymnastic apparatus work. Children are encouraged to work towards the Winstrada development programme in both activities, achieving badges and certificates for performing moves correctly. They are taught how to gain control on the trampoline, and try doing different shapes in the air or multi-tasking such as jumping and clapping. Coaches are available to help class members understand how their body positions affect the reaction of the trampoline, and above all enjoy the sensation!

In gymnastics, equipment such as bean bags and hoops are used in floor exercises to help children build their balance, co-ordination and control, while introducing gymnasic shapes and basic elements such as supported rolls. Class members can work on moves that provide a structured development programme, and allow them to attain awards for completing certain skills in gymnastics.

The third group is introduced to various gymnastic apparatus, such as horse/vault, trampette jumps and beam work, and work through varied exercises in a safe environment. Using assisted techniques to help overcome obstacles and learn how to best achieve results on equipment, each member can build on what they have learned each week to get their jumps bigger, hands placed down more firmly and confidently, and improve balance, strength and agility.

Working in a group environment helps build independence and social skills, and we use this first class to help children get used to the activities with the help of parents. Adults are asked to help with spotting around the trampolines, and are offered the opportunity to take a step back in the gymnastics if it is suitable.

Ages 3-7:

After playing gymnastics-related warm-up games for the first ten minutes of the class, two groups are allocated 25mins on both the trampolines, and gymnastic area, swapping over at 35 minutes past the hour.

Using activities and techniques similar to the Funfit class plans noted above, the moves and elements are of a slightly more developed nature, for the slightly older child.

While adults are still asked to help with spotting around the trampolines, we provide enough coaches to allow children to enjoy gymnastics without parents or guardians. Instead, you can observe from the side of the hall, unless you really want to get involved yourself!
