I find this place very good. It's a trade auction so you need to be on your mettle - this is no problem if you view the lots beforehand and watch the proceedings to get a feel for the bidding. They are helpful with deliveries and collections if you want them, you just need to factor in the costs beforehand to make sure you understand what you are likely to get or have to pay out. I enjoy going there and their on line catalogue is good so you can suss out what's on offer before you go there. I visited last Saturday, placed some bids. called on Tuesday to see if I had been successful. The lovely lady I spoke to emailed me an online payment link. I arranged a courier to pick up but they failed to turn up. The auction room staff were very understanding and allowed me time to arrange another courier. Great service and will definitely be back. Rude fat lardy lazy opportunistic blokes that sell knock off and fake goods by confusing the description. Horrible place full of junk. As overheard by the so called valuers "it is a perk of the job, the good stuff goes well before the auction" ... Went once, never again. Keep away! More...

Buy smart not hard, and you'll save a lot of money at this auction house. I love this place. The first time we moved to London from America we bought all of our furniture here, and a lot of great decorative items and amazing crystal vases. Insanely cheap too. And when we were ready to move back to America we simply gave them a call, they picked up all our stuff, and sold it for us! We got back about 80% of what we'd paid. Not bad at all for a year of a house filled with nice antiques, and a bunch of great items that we took back home to America. Now that we're back in London, I'm sure we'll return to the Southgate Auction Rooms, even if we live a bit farther away. More...
