Very professional team. Great knowledge and the help I have received has helped me greatly and also made me think about the way I work and changes I can make. The exercise routines are a great help to do at home and the slightest change with your professional approach has really helped me. Thank you. More...

Ian was recommended to me when I was not recovering from rotator cuff/ AC joint pain in my shoulder. I was in constant pain. Unable to sleep, could not reach above my head, dressing and driving were painful, and I had stopped strength training. Even dancing was affected. Following his guidance over a six week period (and two weeks of naproxen), I saw a (best guess) 70% improvement in symptoms - pain reduction and improved mobility. I’ve been able to slowly introduce weights into my exercise programme, am dancing more flexibly, and am no longer in constant pain. The non-specific rotator cuff pain is almost gone. We continue to monitor progress with the more stubborn specific joint pain and I have new exercises to introduce. I would highly recommend Ian at Southampton Physio. He is personable and kind, gives a level of explanation appropriate to your knowledge and understanding, and will work with your existing schedule so that you have a treatment plan that you will stick to. Naturally, the rest is down to you! More...

Really excellent care, very professional and friendly and give good clear advice. I like that they take a holistic approach to care and don’t recommend unrealistic amounts of treatment. I’m also really enjoying the small group PT sessions for strength training. I highly recommend Southampton physio, I’ve seen both Ian and Kinga and they are excellent. More...

After a knee injury on Christmas Day I was desperate to find anyone to help me as I was in so much pain. On the 28th, I called round all of Southampton. Nobody was open or could help till I called Southampton Physio. They gave me an appointment for the same day. I saw Benson and he was absolutely amazing. He put me at ease instantly and gave me an idea of what my injury could be even though my knee was so swollen and I was in so much pain. 3 weeks later I booked another appointment to see Benson and now I know exactly what injury I caused myself. Benson is just fantastic and gave me in-depth information of my injury and what I need to do to heal. I spoke to Ian who organised my bookings and he too was just so patient and understanding and helpful. I highly recommend Southampton Physio. A highly professional team that genuinely care about you. All very patient and kind and extremely understanding. I would rate them a 20/10. They are excellent. More...

I went to Ian for online coaching after getting diagnosed with hypothyroidism which was causing weight gain, a lot of fatigue and joint aches. Ian worked with me to set up a gradual online coaching plan that was tailored to my energy levels, work schedule and goals. I always felt welcome to ask questions, make amendments and set new goals as we went. After a few months working with Ian my weight stabilised, my strength was improving and I looked forward to my training sessions. After a year I had the confidence to join a local powerlifting club and soon I’ll be going to my first comp! I’m hoping not to get injured, but also grateful to know Ian’s there if I do! I highly recommend online coaching with Ian, especially for anyone with health conditions, chronic pain or that is looking to build confidence. More...

I started treatment with Ian at Southampton Physio in January 2023 following an acute knee injury. 100% recommend their service and treatment approach. I ruptured my ACL playing football and was previously fit and well. My NHS consultant explained that I might have a lengthy wait for treatment and prehab could help me regain mobility and boost my chances of a successful ACL reconstruction (still waiting on the list.. 7 months on). At the time I was on crutches and could barely walk, let alone run or cycle. After seven months under Ian's care I'm extremely pleased with the results: I'm now back on the bike for commuting and most of the time, by working on the physio exercises Ian trains me in, have good mobility (though no running til after my op sadly). In particular these plus points stand out: - No-pressure, up-front and ethical approach. - Flexible treatment planning, eg once my joint stabilised, they suggested I drop from weekly workout to monthly monitoring sessions as it was in my financial interest(!) - Whole-body and multi-disciplinary expertise means that when I developed secondary back problems owing to my unbalanced gait, they were able to inclusively address that with additional exercises and some chiropractic therapy. I'd never had a chiropractic manipulation before and was a little apprehensive, but Ian explained the procedure, outcomes, and risks, and we kept it light and simple. I felt happy to do it and it improved my back. - Flexible scheduling and near city centre / Uni - Good food in the cafe there (Sssshh!) All in all a great experience from a trustworthy and effective team. Recommend. More...

I have had several sessions with Peter. I had three separate issues to solve (from regular climbing and a bike accident): Hand pain, Golfers Elbow (Left) and Torn Rotator Cuff (Right). Peter was very well informed, professional and easy to talk to. He explained the underlying causes of all three sources of pain and gave me exercises that (over time) have eased all three to a manageable level. These exercises were modified after after re-assessment at each visit. Perhaps most surprising (technique) was the soaking of my hands in (quite) hot water for several minutes before exercising them. This worked like magic in helping to mobilise those stiff finger joints. More...

Both issues have already improved and I’m confident that over time with Ian’s guidance they will continue to progress. Would highly reccomend More...

If I arrive with an injury, Ian's extensive knowledge and experience means he can adjust exercises to suit needs. I really respect the full history taking. I was recommended to freeflow injury and performance clinic by a friend. I was very impressed with the way the initial consultation went and to the final stages of my rehabilitation. The techniques used to help in assisting with my injury. I thought the exercising I was being asked to do especially at home really helped to bring me forward to a more speedier recovery. Inside the treatment room, there was enough space for me to physically demonstrate where exactly I am feeling discomfort. The analysis, we worked on together and it really brought a new confidence in me. Personally that's one of the biggest achievements, I got my mojo back. I feel better, fitter and certainly more able than I was prior to meeting Ian. Ian's service was amazing, extremely clear in the way he communicates and as you would expect, understands the human body. He is also very friendly, but most importantly is able to help in getting you back to where you would like to be!! Thank you for all help :) More...

Ive suffered from re-occuring lower backpain for the last 10 years and over the last 3 months, I've seen significant improvement from using Ian's services. Im far from fixed, but Ian has and is giving me the tools to continue on improving and achieve the ultimate goal of a backpain free life. What I've found different from using Ian's services, compared to physiotherapy (both nhs and private) he not only looks at physical triggers, but also mental triggers and an insight into the psychological impact of suffering from long-term pain. This has been very helpful in understanding why I get flare-ups for no obvious physical trigger. Would highly recommend his services. More...
