We needed some significant work with replacing our boiler and changing all associated pipework and radiators. Snug gave us some very good quotes as the specification changed, it was always easy to contact them and Anthony was both professional and knowledgeable explaining where pipes would run, what disruption could be expected and how long it would all take etc. Their price was very competitive too. Ultimately, we went with another firm based on little more than a flip of a coin but our experience of Snug has been nothing but good as you can at least call them and get to speak to a person straight away. Solar panel, inverter and battery install was 12/9/23. These comments are on 2/3/24 and a review of my experience during install and after. I hate that the five star system is such a blunt tool since I’m torn between three and four stars. I wish it was 5 because it all started out so well. I’m going to give three stars for now because of the lack of response to my follow up queries, but the initial install was 4 stars and would have been 5 were it not for a lack of installer knowledge as to my requirements. The survey was excellent and timings for install adhered to. The actual physical install of panels and inverter went well, but it turned out they hadn’t understood the limitations on my requirement for the inverter to continue to supply the house in the event of a grid failure. I think we both learned a lot from that experience but in hindsight I think I should have gone for a more powerful inverter and perhaps an extra battery. Snug ended up with a lot more work than they originally envisaged given the issues with setting up my ‘essential’ and ‘non essentials’ boards. It didn’t help that the first battery failed within 12 hours of installation and it took over a month for it to be replaced although I’m not blaming Snug Energy for that. Since the issues with the battery and ‘essentials’ supply were resolved (although not in the way I had been led to believe it would work), I’ve had no response to the two detailed emails I sent to Snug with further queries and when I phoned no-one got back to me. As Andrew was really helpful and knowledgeable at first, and as I was able to contact them while the battery issue was ongoing, I’m guessing that they’re just really busy and my queries went down a black hole. Maybe this review will elicit some feedback as to why my support queries weren’t answered. The system is operating well especially after I discovered the Sunsynk Owners group on Facebook and my support queries were answered by fellow users. I managed to get admin access to the system by asking Sunsynk, and I learned how to activate Octopus Agile tariff. I have also received support from Sunsynk themselves as they now have chat via their website app. I would rate Sunsynk very low on customer service in general though. They don’t explain things well and seem to treat their customers as beta testers. Communications when they break something are abysmal and their claims of having fixed something are often in advance of it actually beginning to work again. Octopus Agile integration was broken for a week and when it came back it worked differently which they completely failed to explain. If it weren’t for the FB owners group I’d be tearing my hair out on a regular basis. That’s a comment on Sunsynk though but as that is the system that Snug Energy recommend, I thought those comments were relevant. More...

The engineers did a commendable job with the installation, displaying a high level competence and professionalism throughout the process. A very detailed quotation covering some points we hadn't considered. The quotation itself describing the system was very easy to understand. Excellent interface app, loads of detail and very easy to adjust charging times, rates etc. Speedy installation despite a slight delay due to Covid and a very good handover explanation from the electrician. I chose Snug Energy over approx 5 or 6 other Solar installation company quotes, as they had a good spec 6.4kWh PV system (+ 5kWh Sunsynk Inverter + 5. 12kWh Sunsyk battery + iBoost) for the best market price. From start to finish a professional attitude was applied and once I was committed all stages were communicated to me and the time table was kept. Survey was carried out and a lot of information was gleaned from it. Quote was produced within 24hrs and was accompanied by detailed outline of parts, and system expectations. Admin team were there to handhold and inform on any queries with ease. Scaffolding went up the day before the installation team arrived promptly with all components and job was completed with them cleaning the site area of any packaging. I have recently had Solar and Battery Storage fitted and from start to finish it’s been the smoothest process, a survey was booked in the following day to my phone call, the surveyor(Andrew) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, once we had decided to go with this company the install was complete within 2 weeks the lady in the office (Kerry) called me to confirm when scaffold was going up and coming down and when the roofers and electricians would be here the office staff are extremely efficient and kept us up to date throughout. Having a boiler fitted by snug energy seemed to cause a valve problem elsewhere. Left me with a faulty heating system throughout winter. Took snug energy 3 months to identify the problem. They wouldn’t replace the valve free of charge and did a temporary repair which could have been dangerous. Reported to citizens advise who passed the information to trading standards. Absolutely fantastic service from Snug. After having a really bad experience with another solar company (F4S) for the last 8 months with lies and failed installs. We were very cautious about getting another one. We contacted about 6-7 other companies and snug were the only ones that wanted to actually come out and quote properly for us. Andrew (owner) was great and we had a good chat about what we wanted to achieve with our solar setup etc and agreed on a solution. When asked about lead times we were told within the next couple of weeks no problem, but they actually called back the same day as they had a cancellation so would I like to take that one which was about 10 days time. We paid our 10% deposit and waited. Had a few emails from Rebecca regarding what was happening and confirming the scaffold company date etc And regular text reminders for all the steps up to our install date. The day of install, the team turned up and installed our panels, invertor and 2 batteries. They have done a great job and were respectful of our home, cleaning up after themselves etc. I had a good chat with the lad who commissioned the set up and he explained stuff to me before leaving. Answering all my newby questions. The after care from snug has also been brilliant. I've had a few email conversations with Andrew and Rebecca since the install and they've always come back to me quickly with the answers I needed. We had our MCS certificate, building regs documents etc the next day before I'd even paid them the balance. Our DNO letter for the export has also been forwarded today (2 days after install) so we can get signed up for exporting with our provider. Overall I would not hesitate in recommending SnugEnergy to anyone. Especially after the previous complete farce of an order with F4S. After having 3 quotes I decided to opt for Sung as the reviews were slightly better across the various online review aggregators, and they were the only potential vendor to actually visit for a survey prior to the quote. The quote was reasonable, the lead time also acceptable. I was called to advise when the scaffolding was going up, and this again was a painless process. The installation itself was quick and seemingly efficient. The actual installation of the panels was quick, although this team did leave quite a lot of mess by way of cut tie wraps left all over the drive and other debris, either from the packaging or from the roof. Not the end of the world, just that I had to clear up after them, but enough to downgrade from 5 stars to 4. You can really only tell the true quality of a company when things do not go 100% to plan. At the end of my install the system would not communicate with the wireless network and therefore I had no visibility of the performance without opening the garage and messing with the physical buttons on the installed box. While this, in all reality, is a minor issue as the system was working and generating power, I was impressed with the fact that Snug kept me in the loop and updated asto the steps to resolve. The issue is now resolved and fully working, Snug visited 3 times in total and have replaced several parts of the system which, as it turns out, were actually not faulty. I was expecting a fight to get this fixed, and I am sure with other companies it would have been a battle - however with Snug the issue was addressed, I was kept updated, and it was pursued until it was all resolved. What's more impressive is that by mistake I paid the entire invoice rather than the deposit prior to the installation. Thought they would be a good company to deal with as they were provided by eon. Cowboys is a more fitting description. Made a right mess of the ceiling while installing the boiler, Was told they would have to come back to do some external work. I tried to organise this three times. The first time they came without the right equipment. The second time they cancelled twice and never rearranged. The third time they just didn't bother showing up and didn't let me know. I had to switch from biomass boiler to gas system boiler. I invited 3 companies to provide quotes and I must say Snug Energy was the most responsive, efficient- knowledgeable engineer came at the time was booked (I know, you’d think it should be a norm- it is not unfortunately) and quote followed shortly? Quote was very easy to read with additional options if wanted to upgrade. Let me say a little more about other 2 companies- both turned up, but at different times- one too early despite clear communication to avoid 9:30-10am, and what time did he turn up? 9:35.. the other one was booked for 6pm, called at 11am that is on the way.. Pricing- Snug Energy provided quote very promptly, the other 2- well, I’m still awaiting quotes from them🤦♀️🤦♀️ surveys completed mid November.. one has indicated total price for the job would be £6-8k, but never provided quote Snug Energy total price got to just under £4. One might think that perhaps different materials were accounted for- now, there is only one boiler suitable for our property and both were taking the same into account. Communication- cannot really fault Snug Energy- we all are busy people these days, and finding service providers who understand that and use texts/ emails/ links etc to communicate on the top of quick phone calls if anything needed additional discussion, was very refreshing. I had follow up after installation too, all dealt with very promptly. And both engineers on the day, as well as electricians on following day, very knowledgeable, considerate and tidy! Avoid like the plague! I had nothing but trouble with them for over a year and still not resolved. Ruined an entire ground floor flooring of our house by bodging an over flow from boiler to the waste to the washing machine by drilling hole and covering in silicone sealer. Lifted whole floor which they reluctantly replaced. Came to turn boiler in first time this year 2 months ago would not work. Rang them and told them. They tried passing onto boiler manufacturers who came out and snagged all they done. Came out a couple of weeks ago and bodged again didn’t swap as advised just fit correctly, even though the manufacturer says the pumps are too small for the system . Didn’t even wire in the thermostat properly. Waited 2 months now and hopefully we get a thermostat but pumps still not good enough. Had days of work unpaid to sort it when they did not turn up it just couldn’t be arsed. Said system would not work blah blah and we’re willing last year to leave me and wife and 2 year old grand daughter in cold as they were not coming back till the new tear. Had to take another day off work to sort myself I got it working. They do not give a damn once they got your money and just fob and blag. TOTAL 3 MONTHS NO HEATING USELESS More...

Tried to book a survey in Sheffield. Engineer didn't bother showing up and didn't even have the courtesy to ring and apologize. Rang their office and got a really rude woman named Rebecca who gave the most half arsed apology whilst excusing it by saying the engineer was stuck in traffic. Her "I don't give a flying crap" attitude has directly cost this company a cash sale. (This is a local company to me, that works in the area that should know the local traffic conditions).
