I don't know when Indian food became sooooo expensive. But whilst this place is expensive, no more so than most other local competition like Sylet Bangla or Bangla Fusion. Great restaurant! Amazing value for money, you get way more than you pay for! Service was fast and attentive, with the food coming within 20 mins of ordering and our plates being taken just after eating! All curries were bursting with flavour ad delicious! Impressive décor and lovely atmosphere! We ordered a banquet between two of us and were really impressed with what good value for money it was! We got a range of starters, popadoms, dips, three curries and rice. Although only making our way half way through it, it was no problem at all when we asked the waiter to box it up to take home! The restaurant was very clean, even the toilets were spotless which is nice considering most places seem to disregard them after they've been cleaned in the morning! It has the potential to become 5/5 “must visit” First of all, it’s important to remember this is a Bengali restaurant. There’s always a difference between Indian, Pakistani and Bengali cuisine. Although the 3 intertwine with each other, don’t expect what you may find in East is East or Kebabish at Silk Route. The food is tasty, it’s a brilliant combination of sweet and spicy and credits to the chef in fulfilling my request to have my Sashlik Karahi extra hot. My partner’s Chicken Bengal Handi Special was also tasty and the handi they both were served in was a good sized one. However, there seemed to be a lot more sauce/curry than there was meat which was unfortunate and the reason why this review loses a star. For £12, I would expect a more even meat to sauce ratio.We both shared a portion of egg fried rice, chips and one naan which again lacked enough portion to justify the price.The overall ambience in Silk Route is cosy, lighting is done right and the staff are also pleasant (although I only saw 2 waiters of which one was the manager, I believe). Came as a group of four looking for a nice Indian after not having one in Preston, looked online and saw some good reviews so thought we would try it out. Turns out to be one of the best Indians I have had before and with so many options on the menu it was so difficult to choose what to have, and all the food is for a very reasonable price. Having set up an exhibition, nine of us arrived at the Silk Route on a Friday night for a curry! The host was great and managed to make up a table even though the restaurant was busy. The food was delicious as ever and we all enjoyed it. My only question would be why do the hot cloths come out before the chunks of orange. These were lovely but a bit sticky.
