Have had a beautiful meal at this restaurant this evening, went there to celebrate my birthday. Food was fabulous, lovely atmosphere, think hygge - candles, soft lighting, warm and cosy. The staff are attentive and knowledgable about the menu and the ingredients used (I am lactose intolerant and care was taken to guide me through the menu of which dishes I could choose from). Last week I celebrated my 50th birthday at the restaurant . We hired the upstairs function room. The decor is beautiful. The food was amazing as was the choices of gins. The staff worked hard to meet all my guests needs. All at my party complimented the venue , food and staff . I would highly recommend the venue. Loved this restaurant. The decor was light and stylish and the food amazing. Flavours in the pigeon breast starter were gorgeous. Rump steak cooked perfectly and the flavour simply stunning. No need for a steak knife, it cut easily as so tender. I had heard a few people say it is expensive but we disagree. The acoustic guitarist was great too. Was worried after a really good starter that my choice of a boring steak would be an anti climax. I couldn't have been more wrong! The sirloin was cooked to perfection (rare) and just melted like butter. The red wine gravy was AMAZING. It wasn't a watery jus but proper stick to your cutlery sauce, and so rich. I was unable to even think about desert but my better half almost found heaven in a honey explosion! All of this gastronomic delight was accompanied buy live music from a very accomplished solo guitarist/singer who we very much enjoyed listening too in the lounge after the meal. Lovely restaurant, delicious food and a good selection of drinks. We went with our 3 year old who enjoyed the fish and chips on the kids menu. There wasn't a huge selection for children but enough to please my fussy eater. I would recommend "Save the bees" on the dessert menu, a light dessert with lots of flavour. We enjoyed the food although my husband asked for a rare steak and got medium so timing was a little off when cooking. We would return and maybe try the rare steak next time. More...
