What Makes us Shine?

At Shining Stars, we believe that every student should have a nurturing, inclusive and personalised learning experience.

In order to provide this quality service, Shining Stars uses an inclusive online platform (Tutor Bird) which allows learners and parents/guardians to be a part of the learning journey. As a member of the Shining Stars community, will have access to Tutor Bird and the following features:

Lesson Notes: Parents and students will have access to tutor lesson notes from the session. Notes will share what activities were undertaken in the session along with progression. The tutor may also suggest next steps in lesson notes.

Study Log: This feature allows parents and students to add time they have spent outside of the session learning e.g. they may have spent 10 minutes on TTrockstars or spent 20 minutes completing a Comprehension – this extra learning can then be tracked and used to monitor progress.

Lending Library: We are building a library of books for our students to lend. You can simply log in to Tutor Bird, see what we have to offer and the book can be given in the session or sent via post if sessions are virtual.

Online Resources: Shining Stars are developing a number of resources to support learning these will be made available by the tutor during the sessions.

Manage Tutee Sessions: Parents can manage sessions times for the learner; they will be able to change session times and cancel sessions if needed. Parents will also be able to see ‘Open Slots’ which can be booked as extra learning sessions.

Online Payments: Parents can make payments through Tutor Bird – they will be redirected to PayPal. Parents will also be able to pay via bank transfer and cash. We hope offer card/contactless payments soon.

Manage Invoices: Invoices will be automatically created so parents can keep track of session costs.
