Little fella did a great job yesterday so very proud (beating & picking up) Steady to birds running about in front of him, stayed put while birds were flying at him and being dropped! I would like to recommend scovallsway and Annie Buckley for her advice and knowledge, a great trainer if you lucky enough to reside near Winchester and worth the traveling if you don’t. (A tad proud and excited for the times to come) #gundog #training #companion #spaniel #scovallsway #thankyou More...

We have been training our Vizslas with Annie for over 10 years now and will be recommending Scovellsway to our current litter puppy buyers too. Not only do Annie and Wendy have a wealth of experience with dogs and people (I admit that I am not best handler!) they have the talent to attract team members who enhance the learning experience too. Whenever we've used the training kennels the dogs would have been happy to have one more sleep - even Rosie, our cantankerous senior with health challenges enjoyed, her stays. Kim in the grooming room was unfazed by otherwise impossible to trim nails - the only grooming the Vizslas need. - prepping my Pi to be placed 1st at Crufts. Then there's the outdoors setting with variety and challenge no matter what level you are starting at or wish to achieve. I started with a zero recall problem to fix but so enjoyed the experience I went on to learn advanced competitive skills, and come back with each new puppy for fun laughter and learning. More...

At nearly 18 months old I thought I would always be walking my Labrador Jack on a harness and then I found Scovellsway. I booked a one to one with Wendy and the improvement was almost immediate. She suggested I try the gun dog intermediate group they had running and from then on I was hooked and 3 years later we're still going. We've learnt so much together and the feeling when it all comes together is a real buzz. This winter was our first 'dip' into the world of picking up and he loved it. All the steadiness training that we've done, blinds and marks proved we had been listening to 'teacher' in between talking Aga's, family and of course dogs. Myself and of course Jack recommend, what has become my second family, Scovellsway for all there training. A five star service. Well done to Annie and her team. More...

The Tail {!} of a teenage hooligan

Dawr is my flat coated retriever. At 18 months old he was a naughty dog, immensely strong and out of my control. He ignored all commands he didn't want to obey, would regularly run off (every day really!) on walks and firmly believed ( still believes!) that every bitch in the world wants to check out how handsome he is- putting it politely! He had knocked me over many times and frequently reduced me to tears- because I knew I'd made every mistake in the book training wise. I wasn't a neglectful mother - just had no idea what I was doing. Walks with him were becoming a nightmare! But I love him - and our other Flatcoats- and wasn't giving up that easily!

Then I found Scovellsway, Annie and her team - and life, Dawr and I changed beyond measure! Dawr took one look at them and knew he'd met his match! It was me who had so much to learn!
Two and a half years later I'm happy to report, dear reader, that we've made some progress! With just so much patient, gentle help and advice from Annie, Sarah and the whole team at Scovellsway and through training with Sarah and my wonderful working test training companions, Dawr and I were 'spotted' and invited to be part of a team of 4 dogs and handlers representing Wessex at the National Flatcoats inter area competition this month. Dawr and I took part ( tail and all!) ( I was quite scared!!) and I am happy to say did Ok-didn't let anyone down at least!

I cannot recommend Scovellsway and the many friends I have made there strongly enough. Dawr would kill to be there training- he loves, loves it, as does my 10 month old flatcoat puppy Ishka, also training there now. Annie , Sarah, Wendy and the whole team have given me so much help that its hard to sum up the impact they've had. They've changed my life, filled it with learning and fun and laughter- and helped to save my life (but that's another story!) . Thank you, thank you all of you a million times
Kath and Dawr

Excellent, so pleased & impressed!Annie and her staff were great with our dog (a Weimaraner) who has been getting a bit too big for his paws lately - over excited, too barky, wanting his own way a bit too much. .. An hour with Annie and his attitude changed completely - calmer, more focused on me and definitely taking more notice of what he's told to do. Annie also made sure I know how to build on what she'd done once I got him home again, too. I'm delighted with the results; my only regret is not having taken our dog there months ago. More...
