We stayed a week in Daisy Cottage a very comfortable and spacious property with its own hot tub - very relaxing. We received a very warm welcome from the owners Andy and Julie and this treatment continued for the whole of our stay. The very pleasant village of Thornton Le Dale is just a short walk away (1.5 miles) and boasts two pubs providing excellent food and service several coffee shops / cafes and a lovely chocolate shop. The cottage location is perfect for visiting this lovely part of the country, with the Moors, Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, Goathland (Heartbeat Country), the Eden Camp and numerous lovely towns and villages within easy reach. On our last night we were treated to a wonderful Thai night - the food provided by Julie was amazing. The cottages have something for everyone, I would strongly recommend them to everyone. We received a very warm welcome from the owners Any and Julie on arrival and this treatment continued throughout the whole of our stay. The very pleasant village of Thornton Le Dale is a short walk away and it boasts two pubs providing excellent food and service, several coffee shops / cafes and a lovely chocolate shop. The cottages are ideally located for visiting much of this lovely part of the country, with the Moors, Dalby Forest, Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, Goathland ( Heartbeat Country), the Eden Camp, North Yorkshire Steam Railway and numerous lovely towns and villages within easy reach. My teenage kids enjoyed the games room and the local animals. The owners, Andrew and Julie (and Oscar the dog), were really friendly, welcoming and were always around if you needed anything (not that we did but it was nice to see them each day). It’s in a great location with the likes of Scarborough across to Thirsk all being a short drive away. Lots of little nice touches in the cottage too (like naming each cottage after a flower and having the corresponding flower growing outside of the cottage) all made for a great relaxing and enjoyable break. I booked Poppy Cottage as my wife and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and I wanted to surprise her with a weekend away in the Yorkshire Moors and came across Sand Farm Cottages. ||||I can honestly say the cottage was awesome, from the cottage itself so nicely done externally and internally, the owners were lovely too very welcoming and very helpful I asked a few questions on the local area and things to do/places to eat and they were more than happy to assist.||||On site parking was great and the whole place felt very homely which put us at ease straight away.||||We found that the addition of the private hob tub was a great bonus especially after a 3 hour walk in Dalby Forrest very relaxing, the cottage is in a very good location and lots to see and visit in the surrounding areas, I would certainly have no hesitation in highly recommending to book this cottage if you are thinking of booking a trip away. Gorgeous cottages, stayed in fuchsia which was well presented and well equipped with four poster bed , big wet room and private hot tub . We stayed in the 4 bed cottage.it is a nice house. Clean tidy and warm. Needs updating a little but has plenty of charm. ||Kitchen well equipped.||Log/coal fire lovely . ||Grounds are very nice and well kept but not very private.||We had a private hot tub but wasn't private enough for me to use during daylight hours. The other cottages could see right over into our garden. There was no privacy at all.||The owner said he was building a fence around soon....but not soon enough for us.||We did use the hot tub a couple time's on a night and noticed that it was foaming quite a lot and was getting scum around it.||I have used plenty of hot tubs but never seen this before. I did mention it to my partner every time I got in it . It did put me off a bit.||The day we was leaving we got a scathing talk down to buy the gentleman owner about how we should have showerd before using hot tub and taken makeup off.||Now firstly I was on my hols and didn't bother wearing any makeup at all.... And as far as I know my son and boyfriend never wear makeup!!!...||And we are quite accustomed to taking a daily shower or 2.....||We know the rules and regulations about hot tubs having sat in many over the years.....and never ever been told that it was us that is dirty!!!!!!||So as a result of actually liking were we was etc we will not be returning. We stayed in the Chapel which is the largest of the cottages and there were 6 of us in 4 double/twin rooms. The cottage is not as modern as some we have stayed in but this meant it had a lovely traditional cottage vibe to it with real open fire, large dining table and a real homely feel. Having every bedroom ensuite was lovely and the cottage had everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub was great and well maintained and a fantastic way to end the day. Andy and Julie were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. They were helpful and on hand if we needed them and were lovely people, which I think makes a real difference when you visit somewhere. We would definitely recommend. More...
