Q&As

After initial contact with a client, first thing I do is meet with them face to face and take them through a free 30-45 minute consultation / assessment where we'll go through general health and safety questions, goal setting, assess their current fitness levels via a full body assessment, looking at flexibility, mobility, body imbalances and any current or old injuries the client might have sustained. Once these are established we can consider the clients goals and workout a road map as to how we're going to work together in achieving those goals.

Listen to your coach! And hard work and perseverance. In a modern society where everyone wants a quick fix, fitness remains steadfast as a long term, lifestyle commitment - you essentially get out what you put in!

Easy - helping clients achieve goals they previously thought were impossible. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a client progress, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. People often come to me wanting to see physical health improvements, but they often get caught off guard at just how good they begin to feeling mentally too.

I think working for yourself really focuses you to apply yourself and work harder - if you don't work you don't eat, essentially. Its on you to make sure the business works but it's so rewarding when it does.

My experience. I've been on the receiving end of top flight coaching within in professional sport (rugby and yacht racing) and now I'm delivering it. Thats not to say I'm limited to coaching athletes. I've helped A LOT of women pre and post pregnancy, couples getting ready for their big wedding day, pensioners battling with Parkinson's disease and MS, as well as youth coaching - teaching youngsters how to use gym equipment safely and appropriately and everything in between.

Both. I've just finished a stint working with a CEO at their home gym so am able to travel (within reason) to private homes that boast home gym equipment or online via programming and regular phone updates/check ins.

The gym I work in is often empty as its predominantly used as a martial arts gym and I'm the only PT working there and in a building that is light and airy with plenty of space to spread out so contact between people can be controlled easily, and because its a martial arts gym hygiene is of top priority so kit is washed down regularly!
