I'd strongly recommend Tadhunter Architects - James and the team did great work for us designing complex phases of renovation work and an extension. The team understood the brief well and provided different viewpoints and design suggestions to help us develop the final designs to a vision we're extremely happy with. I'm sure we'll be using them again in future. More...

We have used James for both the extension of our home as well as a completely new residential build, both are fabulous.
James always makes the best, most practical use of the space to work with & is open to making changes or advise should our needs differ from originally anticipated.
James is professional but gives a personal service, we will continue working with James for all future developments & we couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

James is friendly and professional. His creativity and knowledge of his trade made it such a pleasure to work with him while he designed my single storey rear extension. James paid great attention to detail and helped me every step of the way in his gentle way. It was the first time I was doing a renovation and James was patient with me explaining the process and sharing his knowledge. James took care of the planning permission and suggested techniques to save money and time. I received the digital plans and the physical drawings neatly packaged. Working with Tadhunter Architects for your architectural project is a very good move. More...

We cannot recommend James highly enough. We asked him to re-design the ground floor of our house and to help us with a retrospective building regulation sign-off in the loft, which has turned out to be much more complicated than any of us initially thought! His approach to both of these projects has been excellent; he is very approachable, patient and always contactable as well as offering clear advice and having a keen eye for detail. He has liaised with structural engineers and Bristol City Council on our behalf which has helped us enormously. As if that wasn't enough, he has an excellent working relationship with a local Bristol-based building company who are going to carry out the work for us so we feel very supported as we embark on the ground floor part of the building work and will post photographs once it is complete. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending James. More...

A friend recommended Restoration Design Studio for the architectural design for our renovation / extension. James has designed our project achieving all of the requirements we set out in our initial discussions while achieving full functionality of the space and keeping within our budget for the build.
We did not have to compromise on any of our wishes with James help to pass planning permission first time. We have been thoroughly impressed with how contactable James has been. James has been very responsive and will take the time to explain any questions you may have with regards to the build or the process. I would not hesitate in recommending RDS.
Project: Two-storey side & single-storey rear extensions to detached house in Somerset.

How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
All garages are suitable for conversion providing they are structurally sound. The level of work required to convert the garage will depend on it's current construction type, location, services requirement, and whether planning permission is required.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
The process is as follows: Initial consultation - quote - survey and further consultation - existing drawing production - draft proposals - consultation on drafts - amendments - further consultation - final design issue - submission for planning permission if necessary - 8-10 week planning process - planning approval - structural engineer calculations - building regulation drawings and specification - final A1 issue of drawings and submission to building control - commencement!
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
The only limiting factor for a loft conversion is the height available from the ceiling of the floor below to the ridge. Providing there is sufficient room the loft can be converted whether it be a dormer of velux conversion.
