Just returned from an amazing trip to Scotland. Our tour was originally scheduled with another tour company, but due to some unexpected health issues with the driver of that tour, our itinerary was handed over to Stravaigin. This was a bit last minute, so we were not sure how things would turn out. However, we were put in the highly capable hands of our driver and tour guide George and he was phenomenal! There were 13 of us in our group and we varied in age and interests. We had a pretty aggressive itinerary and George was so great about making strategic recommendations to make sure our trip was both fun and efficient. During our 10 day tour we traveled up the North Coast 500, up to the Orkney Islands, and several Outlander filming locations. As a local, George was very knowledgeable and engaging and made sure to share facts and stories about the locations we visited as well as the Scottish culture. George loved surprising us with some off-the-beaten-track locations and cultural experiences that he was able to squeeze in that were not even part of our itinerary. I think a lot of those little surprises ended up being our favorite locations! Our bus was filled with giggles and laughter and we all loved listening to George's stories, lies and nonsense :) I don't think I have laughed that hard in ages. The bus was very comfortable, clean, and roomy and it was nice to have Wifi when it was available to upload pictures from the trip and keep connected with my family. I fell in love with the word Stravaigin once I knew its meaning and plan on incorporating that into a tattoo soon! If you are looking for a wonderful guided experience in Scotland, choose Stravaigin. We just finished our tour with David in the Highlands. We are leaving Scotland with a much higher respect and knowledge of such a wonderful place. David took us to many places that we could have never imagine just visiting without him. He went the extra mile to tell the tale ,stories & history of his county. He truly loves what he does and making sure we are enjoying every minute. Places off the beaten path that only locals would know about. David is incredibly organized and very prompt. Just back from a group 10 day trip to Scotland planned expertly by Carol at Stravaigin Tours. Our guide was George who was beyond a doubt the best guide I have experienced in my 30 years in the travel business. His knowledge about the country he loves is astounding - always profesional, fun, always there with us off the bus on EVERY excursion to answer all of our repeated questions - he went over and above what I and our group expected - Hope he reads this so he can again know how much we appreciated how he went over and above all the time. The hotels and B&B's were just wonderful all along - we had comfort at night and hiking and exploring during the day - wish I was still there in beautiful Scotland! We had a most amazing 9 day tour of Skye, the Highlands, Orkney, and Shetland. Derek was a fabulous guide--always looking to do special things that he knew would make our trip even more memorable. As a young group of students operating on a low budget, we had the distinct pleasure of being allowed to traverse the highlands with Stravaigin. Along the way we encountered 11 rainbows, stopped at Loch Lomond, popped into St. Conan's Church and passed by an absurd amount of castles, highland coos and awe-inspiring landscapes. We booked a mini bus for 8 people to take us to Glasgow Airport and collect us a week later. We had great service from the company, right from the beginning when arranging the booking the emails were prompt and booking was very professional. Communication with the company continued to be excellent throughout, with details of who our drivers were going to be and their contact numbers beforehand. Our first driver came promptly at 1.30am which we really appreciated as it was such an early start, and our second driver on the way home was also on time, meeting us at the airport and helping us with our luggage & a very pleasant chap! We went to Newcastle for my pals hen weekend and hired their 16 seat mini bus. The mini bus is lovely, all leather seats and you can play your own tunes and have a drink on the bus. The driver was cool to. Would definitely recommend these guys. More...
