Q&As

Coaching is all about moving forward, creating new directions in life and looking for practical steps to make the changes you want. This really spoke to me as a vehicle for helping people when they are feeling stuck. My passion is working alongside people as they explore what they want and what they are good at, what brings them meaning, and finding the ways to do more of that.
That can take a bit of digging because a lot of us get stuck in the ‘should do’ and ‘ought to do’ of life then come unstuck when we realise that it is not making us happy or fulfilled. As one client explained..

‘It helped unravel the confusion of what I thought I wanted, to find what was driving that… and get to the real motivators.’

They learnt about their strengths and started to question some of their beliefs,

‘It has helped me understand what lights me up and what inspires me. I am so prone to seeing myself negatively, I hadn’t thought about my strengths… I started to have more belief in myself, what I can do... I feel more decisive, I trust my gut a bit more.’

Most essentially, they said

‘I got to know myself in a more positive light.’

Hearing that what I do has had that effect on someone made me very happy!

I wanted to work directly with people in the way I want rather than within a more fixed structure. I love the freedom and flexibility that offers.

My values are connection, curiosity, playfulness and equality. These guide me in deciding what I do and how I interact with people. Coaching allows me to work in a way that aligns with my values which is why I love it.

I know what it is like to feel unsure of where I fit in or if I belong, so I have a lot of empathy with those who are struggling with similar issues. I am great at seeing things from different points of view. I bring a great deal of experience, compassion, knowledge and perspective. I am an excellent listener. I also like to laugh a lot and making others laugh is really important to me too.

With positive psychology your first client is always yourself and so I have done this work on myself too! I practice what I preach and I have seen how effective these tools are for getting to know yourself in a kinder more supportive way than many of us are inclined to do.

With coaching the key ingredient is the positive relationship, trust and understanding between coach and client so it is important we are the right people for each other. So if I sound like someone you could get along with then get in touch and book a free chemistry call.

All coaching sessions are provided on line. Details of how to contact me are available on my website. I generally offer sessions via Zoom but other platforms are available. This works as a medium as clients are able to access support from anywhere they have a mobile connection so they have privacy and security of being in their own environment.

Services

When you take up one to one coaching we agree an initial plan. This is usually a block of 3 to 6 sessions. We can discuss how regularly you want to meet, I would usually suggest every fortnight. This gives you time to work on any exercises or goals in between sessions whilst maintaining the motivation to keep practicing.

Each session will have a specific focus. This may involve some education around a particular positive psychology topic that can support the goal you are looking to achieve. We start by digging into your gaols and aspirations by exploring what inspires and motivates you and consider how this can be developed. We will also look at potential pitfalls or obstacles and plan for dealing with these should they come up.
