I teach private piano lessons from my home on my Yamaha U3H, to students of all ages with ability levels ranging from beginner to advanced. I am an instrument specific piano teacher and can prepare students for ABRSM piano exams, should this be their goal.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I reserve teaching virtually for lockdown/isolation scenarios, or in the instance of last minute absences preventing face-to-face lessons.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have a detailed COVID-19 risk assessment on my website, however just some of the measures in place include the following:
- I wash my hands between lessons
- I sanitise touch points and the piano keys between lessons
- I allow a constant ventilation of natural air flow into the teaching space, weather dependent
- I ask all students to sanitise at the start of each lesson
- I offer virtual lessons if you feel unwell
- I encourage contactless payments
ABRSM exam preparation
I can fully prepare students for all areas of ABRSM piano exams (both practical and performance), with mock exams taken during lessons in the run up to the exam date as required.
ABRSM certificates can be used on C.Vs. From Grade 6, ABRSM certificates can aid university acceptances, as the certificates count towards UCAS points.
Sight reading tuition
By learning how to sight read, you will be able to play music written on a page.
I effectively teach students how to sight read the treble and bass clefs by using a number of methods.
D of E Assessment
I am a Duke of Edinburgh assessor and can write you a report on your progression with learning to play the piano, should you choose my piano lessons as the subject of your D of E assessment.
Annual Summer Recital
I give my students the opportunity to share their piano playing with each other annually, by way of organising an informal, friendly recital, complete with printed programmes, an interval and refreshments!
Recitals are a brilliant opportunity to meet and to listen to like-minded, local pianists for all ages and abilities (very important for soloists!) and to practice performing pieces for upcoming exams. They provide the students with confidence, purpose and inspiration.
For students who can't be present at my recitals or for those who prefer not to perform live, I give the option of filming their piano playing in advance and showing the recordings on a screen during recitals. While this is not the same as performing live, it is a way of including students who otherwise may not be able to take part.
Music Theory Tuition
Music theory tuition available (ABRSM theory Grades 1-5). I teach music theory both on paper and by using the piano. Should you wish to take an ABRSM instrumental exam above Grade 5, passing an ABRSM Grade 5 theory exam is the most commonly chosen prerequisite.
GCSE Music and A-Level Music Help
I provide additional support for students taking GCSE music and A-Level music.
Additional Support
For those who have piano lessons during term time in school or college, I am very happy to provide additional ongoing support, or temporary support during school holidays in the form of piano and/or music theory lessons.
