We've used PenLife for a number of years now, associated with our pensions and some of our investments. Our interactions with Penlife are always at the right level, with our adviser recognising we have some knowledge of investing, understand risk (both the risk of losing and making money! ), and are numerate, which allows us to target questions that help us understand how we're moving towards our objectives, whilst skipping some of the more routine analysis and discussion. Investment performance has been satisfactory - and is broadly in line with our other adviser for our level of risk, although the last few years appear to have been unusual in the number of financial shocks that have arisen (Covid, banking, Ukraine etc.). We're looking forward to the relationship continuing to prosper. I rarely give five stars... and working with PenLife requires assessments across many areas of performance. I admit I was a little concerned at first when considering whether to place my trust with a financial planning company. To say that I should not have had any worries at all is a huge under-statement. From the moment I contacted PenLife Associates some 4 years ago, on the recommendation of a friend, I have had nothing but complete confidence that my finances are in safe hands. Deborah Jacobs has been my Financial Advisor since day one. Deborah is not only very friendly, kind and approachable but she is extremely professional and hugely knowledgeable about financial/retirement planning. I wrote a review a week ago, which I have tried to update but can't figure out how to. I stated that the ongoing charge I paid was 1. 25% and I had experienced some instances of staff being rude to insurance company staff. I just wanted to balance this by saying that the advice I received was good and fair, which was of course the main reason I sought their services. The charge I paid was definitely 1.25% (I have the documents still!) and all my other comments were accurate but I just wanted to balance this. Asking me to explain how investments/money works is a bit like asking a dachsund to play the piano. I understand the number at the end of all the other numbers and can see whether it has got larger or smaller, which puts me ahead of the sausage dog. Just. I lament my lack of knowledge and financial nouse which, in my case can lead to fear and panic.
