Over the years, we had struggled to find the right photographer for our business.
From the styling of the shots, through to the experience on the day of the shoot, it always left us slightly disappointed.
One, in fact, would hardly converse with us and seemed to be almost irritated at being there!
Safe to say, we'd become pretty sceptical. Nonetheless, we needed someone and we needed to find the right person.
I found the Bark website and popped a brief on - it took less than 10 minutes to have a shortlist of 5... good start!
After comparing the quality of previous work and speaking to each one, we decided that Paul was the best fit in terms of style and experience. There was still a slight feel of intrepidation though, given our previous experience.
That changed, however, the moment we met Paul.
We finally found someone who listened to what we wanted, offered practical and considered ideas and actually produced what he said he would. In fact, it was miles better than we'd even hoped for.
His attention to detail is incredible and he was able to bring our beautiful fresh produce and chefs ingredients to life.
Most importantly, he was a pleasure to spend time with and so easy to get along with... like slipping on a comfy pair of shoes!
The images were turned around in just a few days and we were so happy with the results, we booked a 2nd day of shooting the following week and have just confirmed a 3rd shoot for next week.
Safe to say, we're thrilled with Paul's work and would recommend him to anyone looking to bring their products to life.

I hired Paul to photograph bottles and drinks for a drinks product at a manor house type venue to be used mainly on social media for the brand. Paul was great to work with, he took some amazing shots using some awesome techniques and I'm really pleased with the outcome. He is professional, a good communicator and timely as well. Paul was professional from the beginning. I ‘interviewed’ several photographers who I wanted to photograph lots of products and build a website.
We spent a long time on the initial consultation which made me feel at ease. He communicated his expertise and creativity in the first phone call and I was confident Paul was the right man for the job.
We had a difficulty of me being in Milan and Paul working with my family on shoot day. We managed to overcome the physical distance with lots of emails and phone calls outside of working hours.
Shoot day was tense! Lots of work to do, no space, and a busy butchers shop with a stressed out butcher. But over 3 and a half days, we got some great shots. Who knows how, but he made raw meat look appetising! The after touches were done in a timely fashion and we were so pleased with the photos of our products.
Then we worked together on the design and building of the website! I was guided by Paul’s expertise on how to maximise google hits and the copy. In the end, it looked amazing. Paul handled the crossover and we were ready for launch in August.
On our old website, the average order was £70, with the new professionally built website by Paul and the lovely photos, the average order is £100.
I would 100% recommend Paul. I can’t compare Paul’s prices because as we all know, when it comes to website building, how long is a piece of string? However, I felt satisfied with the price we paid. The quality of the work, the time and effort with the level of professionalism felt worth it.

We did 2 days project with Paul and extremely happy about his focus and professionalism. Hectic 2 days of work more that 200 shots but it was great fun working with him.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
A commercial photograph is only “great” when to fulfills the brief, budget and needs of the client. Clearly these needs differ dependent on the intended use of the image, quantity over quality or the reverse? For Amazon or E bay, for website and social or for print adverting and brand identity.
Communication is the key, both within the finished image and in development of the brief prior to the shoot.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
When planning a brief think about what the image/s need to achieve. Is it simple product illustration shot on white or rather to convey the personality of the brand/product and set in an environment that helps to tell that story?
When the above is decided all other answers start to fall into place.
What do you love most about your job?
I took my first photograph when I was 2 years old, that was a while ago! Many things have changed in the photographic process in that time and over the years I have worked with some of the best people in their respective fields both on large format film and now digitally.
Creatively however very little has changed, whatever you do and however you do it you are creating a two-dimensional image within a coffined space and shape.
I love the simplicity of that.
Think of how a simple curve might be placed within a square, even a subtle change of position can affect the composition and thus how the eye instinctively travel around the image. Add to that nuances of light, colour and tone and you can see the possibilities are endless. Producing an image that achieves its goal both commercially and creatively is something I still find very satisfying.
What inspired you to start your own business?
For 10 years I worked as senior Producer and Photographer for Packshot.com and Fashot.com the most prolific imagery producers in Europe. This was a role that often meant managing the creative process on very large projects using large teams and budgets. Whilst many of these where highly exciting and the client list stellar it often kept me away from being behind the camera myself. I decide it was time to get back to what I have always loved most about photography – creating the imagery myself.

Other than my experience and creativity I am extremely hard working, diligent, down to earth and practical. I’m friendly and flexible and can shoot at your premises as well as in studio or on location. I can shoot at your location or in studio, indeed if required I can set up my studio in your location and have a travelling covered studio space that can be erected outdoors meaning we have the best of both worlds in order to most easily achieve your goals.

I work with you from pre production planning through to final post_production of the images. I deliver images to you in Hi Resolution for print as well as web ready images to your chosen specs and Instagram crops with the addition of your logo if desired.
I can work solo or with your chosen stylist/s or team dependent on the nature of your project. I am fully equipped with hi end professional equipment and fully insured. I am as happy on location and working with natural light as I am in studio and with flash and continuous lighting options both on location and indoors.
