What a refreshing change to deal with someone who knows their products inside out and who responds to queries quickly and efficiently. The alarm system I bought for our large, renovated and extended Victorian house in Northern Ireland needed some careful planning and component selection. Kevin Woodberry took time to explain the dos and donts before I made the purchase. The alarm components were delivered well-packaged and quicker than expected. The system was easy to install. Anyone who can use a stepladder to position sensors with adhesive pads, can download apps and scan a code using a smartphone will be able to do it. I had a couple of minor follow-up queries (e.g. about the range of the system) which Kevin dealt with quickly. I had been researching an alarm system for my home for quite some time and the options out in the market were quite overwhelming to say the least. I came across securityalarms dot co dot uk which was a reputable and trusted website which in my opinion is the absolute authority on home security. I came across Kevin Woodberry contact details and thought I'd give an expert a call, this was the best decision I could have made! Kevin asked me some key questions around what my needs were and he suggested the Home8 security system. The Home8 security system had everything I needed which include - door/window sensors, motion detector, siren, HD camera and a smart control hub. It is a self monitored smart app alarm system which many people pay for on a monthly subscription. With Home8 there is no monthly subscription fee and if the sensors are tripped you are instantly notified in less than a second which gives you a live HD video feed straight to your phone with no time delay whatsoever! The alarm system also comes with a really simple key fob which can activate or deactivate the alarm with a simple press of the button, this is exactly what my elderly mum needed for when she popped out. The live camera feed also helps me keep an eye on my mum as I am always out at work. I can honestly say that the Home8 security system is everything you can want from a robust home security system. When looking for a security system to protect my new home I wanted something that incorporated an alarm and CCTV which could be controlled via a smartphone app. I narrowed it down to the Yale smart system and home8 supplied by Securistar. Given the multiple bad reviews of the Yale system I decided to go with home8 and I wasn’t disappointed.The build quality is good, every element of the system is robust (I even dropped a PIR sensor from 2.4m onto a hard for and it held up fine).Setup is easy, its simply a case of going into device management via the smartphone app and using the phones camera to scan the barcode on the sensor, the app will then pair, once done it is good to go. I have also recently installed a cheaper Yale system for a friend and home8 is much easier.I have been using the home8 system for around 3 months now and never had one false alarm. It goes off when it is supposed to every time, both the internal siren sounds as well as getting an alert on my smartphone.The app itself is pretty good, you can add additional users, live stream footage from the CCTV cameras, view past recordings, manage your devices etc. Simple to use and never had it fail on me.The level of customer support that Securistar provides is second to none, always easy to reach via email and they really go out of their way to assist you.Although there are areas for improvement id say the home8 is a solid security system, when leaving I a confident my home is protected. I helped Mum and Dad select a local alarm provider in Colchester. We got two quotes from local companies and decided to go with SecuriStar and we're REALLY pleased we did. Their surveyor was prompt and professional, did a very thorough security audit and left us with a quotation. No pressure selling, which was my main concern as my parents are in their 70's and hate feeling pressured.We selected the smart alarm system because it included a panic pendant wrist strap which would alert me (via my iPhone) to any issues, like a fall.The alarm was installed within 7 days of survey and the installer was, again, prompt, friendly and professional. Dad was also very impressed with his knowledge of boxing as they reminisced over old boxers and classic bouts from the past. He was also very clear and patient when showing us how the system worked.I can't say enough good things about Securistar. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending them to Colchester residents.
