My name is Joanna (Jo) Passmore and I have a private practice in Ogwell, Newton Abbot. I work from my lovely, comfortable garden room, which provides a safe and secure environment. Alternatively, I work online using Zoom or can hold sessions on the telephone. I offer short-term and long-term therapy to adults. To ensure that I am the right match for you, and that I am the right person to help, I also offer a free no obligation 30-40 minute consultation to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy. This will give you an opportunity to find out how I work, and what I can offer to help you move forward. After this initial session, I charge £45 per hour.

I work as an integrative therapist. This means that I can draw on a variety of recognised therapy methods that will serve you best. It is also important that we are able to build a trusting and safe relationship first, which is a fundamental part of your journey, just like two people building a bridge together.

My role as a counsellor is to guide you to find the answers from within, not to advise you. Counselling is very much client-led so you take the lead on what you want to bring to the session. You are the expert of yourself. I am here to listen and support you throughout our time together.

I worked as a Registered General Nurse for just over 18 years. I started my career in Swindon and worked on a cardiology unit. I moved to Devon in 2003 and embarked on a career within the community where I spent the rest of my nursing career working as a Practice Nurse. I have always enjoyed working with people but had a particular interest in mental health, so I made the decision to leave nursing and retrain as a counsellor. I am incredibly passionate about helping people just like you.

I have experienced struggles throughout my life and have had counselling myself, so I know how valuable it is. My personal counselling helped me through some difficult situations. These experiences have shaped the person I am today and are also what drew me to train to be a counsellor.

Whether you need help with a particular issue which is holding you back, you are feeling stuck due to experiences from your past, you feel lost or you don’t know which way to turn, counselling can help you to explore your situation (past or present). It can also help you to let go of the things that are holding you back and move forward with a greater knowledge and understanding of who you are.

I am a registered member of the NCS (National Counselling Society) and I work in line with their Ethical Framework. The code sets out the standards that all qualified members are expected to meet. My NCS membership number is: NCS21-00643.
