Q&As

I genuinely enjoy every time I make something safer than it was before, even if no-one ever sees it.

We turn up on time, we come with respect for the client and everyone involved, we do the job right, and everything we do is backed by the £25,000 NAPIT work quality guarantee.

No but I am happy to provide some advice and guidance over the phone where possible.

Services

An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a legally recognised document which verifies the electrical safety of a building.

These are required every 5 years for landlords and commercial premises. They can also be a great way to identify what needs doing in a newly purchased home.

Though some companies offer these with a bare minimum of effort, our inspections are always thorough and if we say it's safe then you can rest assured we mean it.

The process includes electrical testing of all the wiring and protective devices and removal of most sockets and switches for visually inspection, as well as checking for loose connections which is the main cause of electrical fires.

Upon completion, you will receive a full report with information about exactly what needs doing and how urgent it is. It will also include our test results and findings which will be useful for any future work.

The technical jargon can be a bit overwhelming, so we will always take the time to fully explain what you need to know in practical terms.

As with all our reports and certificates, this report is stored on an encrypted cloud so if you lose it all you need to do is let us know and we can issue a replacement.

We love repairing things! Whether you have had a bit of DIY gone wrong, cowboy builders making problems or the house has been flooded and nothing works, we are here to help!

Whatever the problem, we will always try to fix it with minimal disruption and cost where possible and you can be sure we will always leave things safer than we found them.

Many older buildings will see the biggest electrical safety improvement from a replacement consumer unit (fuseboard). As well as all the upgraded protective devices and fireproof enclosure, the process of replacement involves testing and inspection on all connected circuits so any other major issues are likely to be found too.

Though not obligatory, we would always recommend an EICR (safety report) is conducted before deciding to go ahead with this, as it may be that existing circuits have unidentified faults which will cause a newer board to trip.

Renovations and additions to a home will usually require some electrical work. This is usually divided into 3 stages - design, 1st fix and 2nd fix.

Ideally the electrical design stage happens when you have a design for the construction but have not yet started building. This usually involves a short visit to the property to see what is in place and may require a bit of discussion to find the best options.

1st fix is basically getting all the cables and back boxes in place and testing the cables so that the rest of the construction work can be done. This is the stage which requires the most work, and timing is very important to ensure costs are kept down.

2nd fix is the final stage - attaching all the sockets, switches and lights and doing the final tests.

In practice, there is often some overlap between all these things to accomodate other trades, and we are happy to communicate directly with other tradespeople to work out the best strategy where needed.

This can be a very quick or a more involved job depending on the location and condition of the circuit.

When we add a socket or light, we have to ensure that entire circuit is safe and compliant so sometimes additional work may be needed, but where this is the case we will always speak to you first and give you other options if we can.

For an EV charge point to receive government backed funding, you must use an OZEV approved installer. This means they must be qualified, insured and competent for EV chargers specifically.

You can find us and the other approved installers on the .gov website at https://www.gov.uk/electric-vehicle-chargepoint-installers

We hold the most up to date qualifications available and have the wider experience and knowledge of electrical installations to ensure you get a safe, compliant and functional charger for your vehicle.

We have extensive experience with emergency lighting from the design and install to maintainance and inspection.

Whether you have a small HMO, a large block of flats or a commercial premesis, we would be happy to look at your emergency lighting needs and have a range of solutions to suit all situations.

We also offer annual maintenance and inspection contracts.

When electric lighting and appliances are used outdoors, attention to detail for safety and durability is even more important.

We love the challenges of outdoor lighting and power supplies, and have the support of an excellent landscaping company where digging and re-turfing is needed.
