Firstly I hope there’s enough space here to write all I need to about Nathan.. Nathan was the first to reply on Bark and I have to say that being ever sceptical about these things I decided to engage with him to see how he could help an old gut like me to finally be able to fulfil a lifetimes ambition of wanting to play the guitar. Something I’d attempted once before but found so frustrating. I asked Nathan one question; how long will it take to learn and he guaranteed me around 3 months… and with hand on heart and with sincerity I can say with confidence that he is nothing short of amazing! He is patient and works at your pace and always knows when to edge you forward. I cannot believe that from twanging really awful notes and chords that I hadn’t even heard of I am now so much more educated on scales notes chords and patterns of strumming. Nathan’s given me immense confidence to pick up my guitar and just sit and strum some of my favourite old school tunes.. absolutely no looking back for me now as this have allowed me to believe that you can actually achieve your wishes with someone like Nathan by your side supporting and encouraging you all the way..

Would i recommend him? Would do you think! 100% worth every Penny I’ve spent with him so far and am still continuing to do so until I’m ready to let go.. all in good time though.. amazing teacher cannot recommended enough.

Just started lessons with Nathan - enjoying them immensely and finally on a journey to learn the guitar!

I have played guitar for a long time, knew that I had some real gaps in my knowledge. I could play pre-scribed solos, but truly never understood the 'why'. 'Why' choose that lead / chords, 'why' does it work together.

Nathan Smith has been teaching me to play the guitar for several months now. I had never played guitar before so I started from level zero with him. So pleased I found him to teach me. Every lesson is innovative and fun. He is very patient, explains everything clearly including the theory behind each new technique or piece. I am not one to leave reviews, good or bad. However, in this instance, it would be reprehensible not to write about Nathans's adeptness as a guitar trainer. I'm 54 years old, and I have tried to learn the guitar numerous times throughout my life, and unfortunately, I have failed miserably and perpetually in the first few lessons on every occasion.

Nathan has been playing the guitar for circa 30 years and has formulated the most endearing and fun way of teaching guitar. He's a relaxed, engaging, highly professional teacher who makes you feel good and positive even if you don't know how to hold a guitar.

Time flies by during the class, and I feel like a better guitarist after each lesson concludes. Nathan inspires me to practice as much as possible, and I am already playing simple but cool-sounding tunes after only a few lessons.

We all know people who are good in their chosen professions, and on rare occasions, we meet someone who is exceptional and at the top of their field.

Nathan is one of those people. He has the rare combination of being gifted and highly skilled yet unbelievably humble, patient and relaxed.

I have just completed my 6th lesson of 12 under Nathan's tuition and found the lessons a very rewarding experience and most enjoyable. The best acoustic guitar teacher I have had. Great empathy and huge knowledge of theory, explained clearly.

Natan is a fantastic guitarist and an accomplished musician.
Tell him what you want to learn, and he'll teach you. I joined him as an advanced beginner, and I wanted to learn fingerstyle guitar, playing the melody as well as the accompaniment. One of the songs I wanted to learn, he didn't know, so he found it on YouTube, figured it out, wrote it down and showed me how to play it, including the melody! I have been playing the guitar years and felt limited by my knowledge and understanding of the fretboard. After a taster lesson with Nathan I soon realised his calm, clear and supportive approach was what I needed. I am now three weeks in to my first term. Working with Nathan is excellent, he instinctively knows where to begin with you and sets "out of lesson" work each week. It's exactly what I needed to keep me focussed and help me progress, long may it continue!

Nathan is a fantastic teacher with the patience of 1000.

From the basics to the more advanced techniques he understands that everyone needs to start somewhere and learns at a different pace.

He is focused on tailoring his lessons to your individual skill level and breaks it all down into easy to understand language and practical solutions to aspects of your playing that are troubling you.

Most importantly for me is he never makes assumptions about what you should and should not be able to play, instead focusing on getting you where you want to be regardless of how long you've been playing.

He's an extremely friendly and welcoming teacher and I look forward to our lessons every week knowing that if I put in the work I'll walk away knowing how to do something that had previously given me issues.

Nathan is a really patient and supportive tutor. As a mature learner I know what I want to learn but sometimes find life and work gets in the way of practice and progress. I would find that a bit frustrating if I was in Nathan’s shoes but he keeps me on track, without disappointment and at a pace that I can manage. It’s clear he is a skilled musician both from a theoretical perspective and in his competence as a performer / player. I feel very lucky to have found him and am confident my skill will improve with time and effort.
